IMO, the biggest hurtle facing our "Big 10" offense is the changing landscape of high school offenses. Nearly every offensive player we recruit has played in a spread offense their entire life. From 9-10 year old flag football to 5A High School football, some variation of a spread offense is all that these guys know.

Bringing in these guys and forcing them to run 2 TE ISO plays is insane. The offensive linemen have to learn a completely different style. The QBs are having to take snaps under center for the first time ever. And great spread running backs like Leonard Fournette are running behind 2 TE and a FB when they are used to running out of the shotgun.

Attempting to do what we've attempted for the last 10 years is asinine. And, it is only going to get more and more difficult as less and less kids and high school players take snaps in an offense that Les Miles loves.

Are you saying that Miles should be a high school coach?

If so, I agree.

Not to mention that High School coaches sometimes use their BACKUP quarterbacks.

That was just a joke when I am agreeing with you.

Other NCAA coaches know when to use the Power Run Game "sword" when it benefits them.....they also know when not to fall on that sword, either.

I'm just saying that football is changing. I don't like seeing offenses that only operate out of the shotgun. But, it is what it is right now. From peewee football up to the NFL, more and more teams are operating out of the shotgun almost exclusively.

We are running an extremely basic and simple offense. But, high school kids don't run this offense. So, it takes them forever to learn it and it isn't what they do best. Frick, even Nick Saban has adjusted.

Our offensive philosophy = a high school offense.

Seriously, not kidding. I could identify 7 or 8 plays Saturday that we used to run in high school

i can promise you that good high school team's aren't running our offense. Frick, I went and watched my 10 year old nephew's flag football team play a game. The other team ran the spread option the entire game.

Kids are not growing up playing football the way it was used to being played. It just isn't happening.
