1 loss vs ranked opponent - Arizona

Alabama
1 win vs ranked opponent - Miss St
1 loss vs ranked opponent - Ole Miss

Florida State
0 ranked wins
0 losses

Baylor
2 wins vs ranked opponents - TCU and Oklahoma
1 loss vs UNranked - WVU

Mississippi State
1 win vs ranked opponent - Auburn
1 loss vs ranked opponent - Alabama

TCU
2 wins vs ranked opponents - Kansas St and Oklahoma
1 loss vs ranked opponent - Baylor

Ohio State
1 win vs ranked opponent - Michigan St

1) Oregon
2) Alabama
3) Florida State
4) Mississippi State
5) TCU
6) Baylor
7) Ohio State

Once Baylor beats K-State, they'll jump TCU.

Seems right, albeit who has a better loss: Bama or Oregon?

I mean, Oregon has a better resume than Alabama.

It's not all about who you lost to. That's just a part of the equation.

FSU has the best quality loss at this time.

Oregon should be #4.

1. Bama
2. FSU
3. Ole Miss
4. Oregon

Ole Miss beat Bama and really should have beaten Auburn.

Moo State was never really in that game against Bama despite Bama turtling it - it was embarrassing.

State played terrible and lost by 5.

Florida State and Alabama will both pass Oregon. Math will back it up. Eye tests will not.

What changed from last week to this week that will make them put Baylor over TCU?

I predict:

Bama
Oregon
FSU
MSU

Minnesota is no longer a top 25 win (quality win)

You may be right about the order.

One thing I think will be slightly different is that the committee isn't using such a clear cut off of "top 25 at the moment in certain polls".

Just based on committees I've been on I certainly imagine they are putting together streamlined sheets for each team with plus and minuses.

However, I bet the plus for, say, beating a Minnesota or Miami doesn't change much whether they are "ranked" #20 or #30 at the moment in another poll. It's simply considered a quality win with an extra plus if away or neutral.

I wouldn't be shocked if an extra "plus" is given for beating teams like West Virginia or LSU that may have a number of losses but also have big wins against highly considered teams (Baylor, Wisconsin, Ole Miss) even if those teams aren't in the top 25 because they've lost 3 games to other top 25-ish teams.

I think this is how the basketball committee works and I bet it's where it's slightly different than usual media talking points in the past.

Whoopie, they scored a meaningless TD in the final seconds.

Bama was about to boat-race them and then turtled it.

State was never in the game.

Ole Miss beat Bama and was a fumble-strip recovery at the goal-line from being undefeated.

State doesn't impress me. That win over LSU looks more average every Saturday by how LSU is performing.

Funny how Alabamas wins over ranked opponents change every week.

West Virginia, Florida, Texas a&m, lsu and miss st were all ranked when bama beat them

I somewhat have a problem with judging victories strictly based off of where teams are ranked at the end of the season.

Texas has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. LSU improved some, but motivation might not be there to end the season. Miami has gotten a lot better now that Kaaya has some experience under his belt. Ohio State obviously is a lot better than they were at the beginning of the season when Barrett was taking some of the first snaps of his career.

I just don't think we should be so black and white on the way we judge these wins. However, I also understand that there has to be some sort of structured and organized criteria. But still, it can be tricky.

That's what I was pointing out in the post above and it doesn't just affect Alabama.

One thing I can guarantee is that Alabama beating LSU away or West Virginia neutral or Ohio St beating Minnesota away means the same pluses on the committee's spread sheet whether the AP ranks those teams #20 or #30.

An AWAY win against, say, a team decent enough to be AP #32 in others receiving votes probably even gets a extra plus over a HOME win against AP #20 (not that the committee will pay any attention to AP poll anyway).
