What would it be like with coach Payton as OC under Les Miles?

Better, worse, same? What if we had the entire saints offense at LSU right now? With Miles as coach would there be an improvement? Is this a bad thread?

Even tho this is technically Saints related, this board hates any and all LSU talk.

Plus, this topic really is better suited for the scoreboard because it is hypothesizing what a great OC would do under Miles despite naming SP, so really an LSU topic.

But to answer your question, Les makes his OC's conform to his 1970's offensive system, so you'd see no difference, imo. Crowton, Stud, and Cam all ran the same plays with a couple of minor differences.

I agree, I'm not big on LSU talk on this board either. Just wanted a view other than Score Board where it's crazy right now. Hopefully things go our way tomorrow in The Dome.

Les is run, run, run.

Cross the 50, Les is run, run, play-action/bomb.

Or Les is run, run, playaction/3yds.

Primary receiver gets 90% of targets, 2nd receiver gets 5% of targets, and RBs gets 4% safety valve, and the 1% left over is misc positions.

No TE looks. In a good year, maybe 10 targets a season.

No mixing short, intermediate, and long routes. Routes are either 3 yds or 50+.

Rarely throws to RBs, and if so, usually just a dump off.

Maybe one screen called per game, and that is usually for a loss of yards or incomplete.

I don't think Payton would last one game with those handcuffs, no matter how much money attracted him in the hypothetical.

Nah, the board just hates when people needlessly shite or prop up players due to where they play.

Like if some LSU fan known for his great gifs comes in and needlessly shits and discounts a players performance because he played at a rival like Alabama. Hypothetical situation of course

Nah if you put an entire superbowl caliber division leading NFL team in college uniforms they probably wouldn't be any better than the mediocre college teams they play. And Payton as OC? With the entire Saints offense at his disposal against college defenses? Not sure how that would work out. Probably wouldn't do too well. I mean our offense isn't really built to defeat 19 year old college kids.

No this is totally a unique and thought provoking thread. I really hope we can keep this discussion going. And Hey, maybe go start a thread on the MSB: "If the entire Yankees team played a season at LSU, would the baseball team be better or worse". That's a thread ripe for conversation. Plenty of evidence on both sides of the argument.

Thanks for proving that LSU fans can give solid contributions to the board.

I don't think he meant offensive personnel. I think he meant the offensive play book. If it's the former, OP is a rantard, but the play book could be interesting. Especially last year with mett, Landry and OBJ.
OP can you clarify?

A more saints talk related question would be how would the saints offense change if les was OC. Would the run game be affected or would Payton still just pass pass pass? This is still a stupid thought btw, because it doesn't matter.

That is more what I meant. As far as me saying personnel was just me being dumb, I agree. Saints Talk is the main board I visit so I posted here, I'm a way bigger Saints fan than any college team. Just can't get over ineptitude of LSU and throwing a forward pass.
