Good article

The excuse has, for years, been rather absurd. But now it's just plain ludicrous.

"It's still football season."

If that's your rationale for passing on the opportunity to witness potentially a once-in-a-lifetime talent – and judging by the number of empty seats liberally sprinkled throughout the Smoothie King Center at New Orleans Pelicans' home games there are thousands who must feel this way on any given night – then it's your loss.

Agreed, tickets are cheap and it's a good relaxing thing to go to any night of the week. No games are on during football so that's just a lame excuse. Anyone who doesn't go, shame on them. This team is good and deserves the support. All the games thus far have been close and exciting and the only blow outs have been in our favor, which to me is exciting.

Side note, I heard someone refer to the SKC as The Blender. I can dig it.

Win some games

The last thing the Pels need is some two bit writer calling out fans.

They have, they're in 6th place with a chance to move into the top 4 with a win on monday. We have 3 home games for the next 15 games. No reason not to pack the house.

Win some games? New Orleans just has terrible fans. Once in a decade or two a player like Anthony Davis comes and we have him. That should pack most of the arena every night. Lakers are terrible and fans still pack up staples center to see Kobe and he sucks.

we have really bad NBA fans. It took all the way until March (plus top 2 record, all star game) for our one legit good home fan base to come around.

I think there's a lot of metry brah mentality that has an inherant grudge against basketball

I'm in no way defending the shitty attendance but what does this even mean?

You know what the problem is, we have too many goddamn liberals who'd rather go see phish play for an hour than good basketball. This is all really Jane Fonda's fault. Had to go all the way to Vietnam and be like "oooh look at my boobs" and revitalized the dying hippie movement. Now yesterdays hippies are today's modern liberals.

I hate to admit that he's right but he is.

I know tons of Metry folk that hate basketball for...various reasons.

wait till February. if we're a contender the SKC will be packed... we've had north of 14k each game and 17k for opening night and the Lakers.

what should we be drawing?

I'm not excusing the emptiness but this team has been garbage for what four or five years in a row? They need to win consistently. Now it has its top ten player in AD. Once they win more people will go. Lol at comparing the Lakers fans. They have multiple rings to fall back on. Not to mention the population difference.

No shite

2 games over 500 for a team that has putrid for years isn't going to convince fans to just come out. Neither is a top 10 player.

We had CP3 and the fans didn't come out until the Hornets showed to be a consistent winning team. It's just how it works here and in other NBA cities

"Thugs".

Which is patently ridiculous.

There's also a very defeatist attitude that they can't ever win.

Also lots of Celtic and Laker "fans".

I'm glad he wrote the article for PR reasons, but give me a break with the we suck as fans nonsense from the PT board. We haven't even been in the playoff race in March in over 3 years. We're 15th in attendance atm. Give it time. That 07-08 crowd was phenomenal. The MT/DC crowds were phenomenal. Do people forget the 07-08 season where everywhere you looked businesses had "go hornets" on their signs etc. We aren't a terrible basketball city. Most of NOLA is not masochists like the diehard fans on these boards.

This team shows it's real. It's going to get booming in the SKC.

If they win, fans wil come.

I already see WAY more Pel merchandise than I ever saw Hornets gear.

Well Larry Holder said on the radio yesterday he won't even watch a game until they are a few games over .500. Typical attitude.
