Americans really like the online service they currently have and strongly oppose so-called “net neutrality” efforts that would allow the federal government to regulate the Internet.

designing a truly independent poll to understand latent factors like "support" is much much tougher.

I think we are seeing that the people are smart enough to realize that "net neutrality" is very different than regulation of the Internet providers by the FCC.

Its not really that hard to understand.

People oppose regulation, but like the things that regulation accomplishes.

How is that hard to understand?

Net neutrality will require some regulation.

"Do you opposed federal regulation of the internet?" YES!

"Do you want the internet to be neutral?" YES!

Do you really expect any other answer?

That's why a good survey design doesn't rely on direct questions, but a series of them to ascertain true intent

But that only works up to a point. If people haven't really thought about an issue, then they don't really have opinions. They have "pseudo-opinions" and survey design can only take you so far.

That's why you ask questions like, how often do you stream video online.

Ask what the moron public knows. Then use in some combination

The Internet hasn't been the same since 9-11 it has already been motified! I don 't see the Internet as any thing different then my original telephone service , that deserves the same privacy laws!
