R+8.

Now all we need to do is take out the garbage in Louisiana to complete this clean sweep. Don't let me down, folks.

We could have had a double digit swing if Fairfax county residents were not vaginas.

Good news.

Seems crazy to.me that California takes so long.

The Dems going to wind up stealing 4 razor close races out there with their delayed counting tactics.

I was watching Rachel Maddow last night. He was saying that, as of last night, the two were separated by only 4000 votes, and there were still 50,000 ballots that were yet to even be turned in and counted. He was implying that the incumbent had a real shot, and this thing would not be decided until next Tuesday.

He had nothing to say about Jonathon Gruber.

4000 votes,

FOX was reporting last night the number was 8,100 with 50,000 left to count. I think I'll take them over him(nice stab there HC. ).

I have done all I can do. I absentee voted for Cassidy in the runoff.

Will be early voting for Cassidy. Time for Mary to move "home" (wherever that is).

We came within an eyelash of it being 56/43/1.

Total repudiation of Obama's policies.

Not if you listen to the 2/3 who didn't care enough to vote.

Yea, what a dumbass.

When you don't like the results act as if the other 2/3 could support your policies. Obama, "a man of the silent majority".

It wouldn't have taken much work in Virginia - at all. And just a little more effort would have put NH in reach - I'm not saying it was winnable by Scott, but his finish makes me question even that conclusion.

The governors are even more shocking - I drank the Kool Aid, thinking the Rs had peaked in governorships and thought a push or a rollback of 1 or 2 was quite likely - a gain in Governors was wholly unexpected.

Scott Brown gave it everything he had up here. He was relentless in his travels around the state and had more ads up than Shaheen did the last 3 weeks of the campaign. He debated very well, made no gaffes and was consistent all the way through. The Shaheen ads were top-heavy on the "carpetbagger" theme (Shaheen is from Missouri but has been here 40 years) and exit polls showed that was the difference-maker in the end. The Dem incumbent Governor won by 5.2 points, and Shaheen won by 3.2 points. No other Republican in NH (except Ayotte, who already holds the other Senate seat) could have come close to winning Shaheen's seat. Scott Brown did the best he could and was not lacking in effort. I'm right here in the middle of the state and I know that to be the case.

The gain was expected by me, as I posted on more than one occasion on here prior to the election results coming in.

If Landrieu wins and the GOP had taken the NH and Virginia seats, the scenario I assume you are referencing, it would have been 56-42-2. Neither of the two independents in the Senate were on the ballot this time around.

For the record, Begich is still not conceding yet. On Tuesday, counting of about 40,000 + uncounted ballots began, and about 17,000 were counted yesterday, resulting in a pickup of only about 100 votes by Begich, cutting Sullivan's lead from 8100 to 8000, a rather insignificant reduction. Still, well more than 20,000 votes still need to be counted, many from pro-Begich outlying areas.. So this is not a final result, though I find it extremely encouraging for Dan Sullivan. Begich is clinging to that 1% shot, but maybe by the end of the day today, with more ballots now being counted, he will finally make his concession.
