I did the speed test thing and I'm getting 30+ up and 20+ down so that's not really the issue. When I try to visit sites on my phone, laptop and ipad it just takes forever to load on all 3. It eventually gets there but it takes forever. When I'm on the office wifi they're all fine. Where do I begin? Oh, and I have the Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 modem/router combo rental from Cox if that helps.

Did you do the speedtest on one of your wifi devices or on a wired machine?

windows key + R
cmd
ipconfig /all

that will get you your DNS settings, now changing them is a whole different story. Google it, I am sure there is a tutorial.

I'm doing that now. The first thing that popped up is how to change to DNS settings to the Google Public DNS settings. Anyone do this?

Rebooting your modem/router might be a quick fix. But if not...

Do you know how to get to your router's configuration? It's probably here or here. Log in (you know the username and password, right?) and look for DNS 1, DNS 2, etc. on one of the setup pages. Change DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 and DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4

Yep, that's the 8.8.8.8 in my post above.

i had the same problem with my wifi at home. Images never loaded on this site. I would have to reload the page like 4 times to see everything. Changed my dns on my devices to 8.8.8.8 and everything works great now.

Additional tips:

1) Upgrade the firmware on your router
2) if you live in an apartment complex or similar, change the wifi channel on your router. You can use iStumbler or idk the windows equivalent.
3) If it is a range issue then you may want to invest in a wifi extender.
4) if your wifi router is more than 4 years old, look into a new one. :)
