Shoppers Trample each other for dolls
this was something to behold for those of you who remember. I remember one of my cousins got interviewed on the scene of a mall trampling on the local news at idiots trampled each other and rained blows down on each other's heads over perhaps the ugliest dolls ever created. it was quite a debacle.
Let us remember where we came from so history is not repeated again.

I remember my mom went to Service Merchandise (maybe?) for one for my sister. She talked about the fights going on for the dolls.

I remember going with my mom and sister to the "dark" side of town to a Kmart. All the dark skinned dolls were gone, tons of white ones to choose from!

I remember. I worked at a toy store around the time they took off. I remember not being able to get them out of the packing boxes before people were pushing and shoving for them. Thanks for the memories. Now I have PTSD.

Santa managed to get me one for Christmas one year and my dumbass was snooping in my mom's closet and there it was in plain view on the top shelf
I practically ruined my christmas morning doing that and never went looking for presents again
That was when they were crazy to get. I ended up with like ten

That's probably the generic rip offs that nurse is talking about

The one I had was a handmade one a friend of my mom made for me.

I never even realized that was a thing when I was a kid.

The makers of cabbage patch kids exploited the notion that their dolls were orphans. The Melon Patch Kids were not orphans... they were abandoned!

I met my mom at the American Doll store so she could get my girls a couple of dolls. IT was a new doll release or something. holy crap that was craziness. They had a restaurant, a salon where you take these dolls. It was a madhouse. Never again.
