Why do people get so upset at anyone criticizing Brees?

He's the 4th highest paid player in professional football. That comes with a really, really high level of expectation.

I along with any other critic would have the same frustration with Rodgers, Ryan, Flacco, etc if the team continued to fold late in games with questionable decision making from the QB position.

No one is attacking Brees personally; he's a tremendous guy.

Some think that past achievements should negate any present failures.

I swear he's the Les Miles of Saints football. You criticize him you therefore hate him and the Saints. And therefore should abandon your fandom and move on.

Wtf? I like both of these guys but how the hell could a reasonable person not have concerns?

He's cost us 3 wins this year no doubt. Browns, Lions and this one all should have been wins

Am I the only one who has noticed that he plays poorly in seasons when his wife has a new baby? I'm sure he's great Dad but, that doesn't win football games.

Brees has almost no care for the ball. He forces throws into triple coverage, fumbles almost every time he's sacked. He deserves the criticism. I mean, he deserves the praise too, but he's a turnover machine.

He has been winning and losing games for the saints since he has been here.

These idiot fans love it when he buys time in the pocket and throws a 60 yard TD. They love it when he fits a ball in between 2 defenders.

Of course they are also the first ones to bitch when he tries to buy time and get sacked or when that ball between 2 defenders gets picked. This shite happens in the NFL. Good with the bad. These fans are spoiled and expect everything to go their way.

Colston dropped a frickin TD. Vaccaro blew coverage on a 50 yard pass play on 4th and 10.

Brees tosses 3 TDs and nearly 300 yards and keeps the team in it-- then gets the blame for the loss

Ingram totes the ball 27 -- fans want to know why we dont run the ball

get a clue, people

The reason Brees receives more of the blame is the contract.

And you have valid points FWIW.

He threw a pick into triple coverage before half time when we were primed for field goal position.

It feels like Brees has turned into the good-guy (aka no dick pics) version of Brett Favre.

Still awesome but makes some really questionable decisions despite great stat lines.

The same reason Patriots fans bristle when people say Peyton is better, or Oklahoma fans constantly jerk it to being a "small market team" winning big.

Yes, expectations are very high, as they should be, but for those who think Drew is washed up, who do we have to replace him? Even at half his ability, he is still better than all but a handful of QB's out there...Be careful what you wish for...

Except most of his interceptions this haven't come from him trying to thread it between two defenders. They are awful awful decisions.

It's again the Les Miles Principle.

There's no strong replacement option.
