Nope. Just a great defensive play IMO.

Yes, it is. We also committed pass interference several times and it wasn't called...sucks that it happened on two of the biggest plays of the game but LSU lost the game, not the refs.

We had several chances to make plays...

2nd Qtr - 4th & 5 - we let them convert & 2 plays later TD for Bama
2nd Qtr - the turnover was killer, we gifted 3 pts right before half

no officials to blame on those or for our kick out of bounds giving them a short field or for our soft coverage. we made a bunch of mistakes down the stretch. still, this no call was a killer too.

From the NCAA rulebook
quote:

Defensive pass interference is contact beyond the neutral zone by a Team B
player whose intent to impede an eligible opponent is obvious and it could
prevent the opponent the opportunity of receiving a catchable forward
pass. When in question, a legal forward pass is catchable. Defensive pass
interference occurs only after a legal forward pass is thrown (A. R. 7-3-8-
VII, VIII, XI AND XII). It is not defensive pass interference (A.R. 7-3-8-III
and 7-3-9-III):
1. When, after the snap, opposing players immediately charge and establish
contact with opponents at a point that is within one yard beyond the
neutral zone.FR-78 RULE 7 / SNAPPING AND PASSING THE BALL
2. When two or more eligible players are making a simultaneous and bona
fide attempt to reach, catch or bat the pass. Eligible players of either
team have equal rights to the ball
(A.R. 7-3-8-IX).
3. When a Team B player legally contacts an opponent before the pass is
thrown (A.R. 7-3-8-III and X).
4. When a Team A potential kicker, from scrimmage kick formation,
simulates a scrimmage kick by throwing the ball high and deep, and
contact by a Team B player occurs.

the picture shows contact BEFORE the ball arrives:

contact that interferes with a Team B eligible player.

It's as much PI as Jalen Collins holding the Bama WRs hand on the fade pass (neither were called fwiw)

Contact before the ball arrives doesn't matter according to the exception I highlighted as long as both players are only going for the ball. If Perry had an arm wrapped around the WR, it's a different story.

If the rolls were reversed, you can bet your paycheck PI would have been called. Just sayin

The ONLY reason they were "holding hands" was because the Bama receiver was pushing off and Collins tried to bat his hand down. In doing so, they "held hands".

Should have been offensive pass interference for the pushing off in the first place.

You mean like on the last drive when the LSU DB swatted the UA WR's arm right before the ball got there, but a flag wasn't thrown?
