Is Scott Bakula one of the worse tv actors who works regularly in leading roles?

He seemed the roundly disliked on Enterprise (at least on the site I would frequent back then) and he comes across as really wooden in the commercials for NCIS New Orleans.

But I think Quantum Leap (and his part in it) was pretty well received.

What does the M/TV Board say?

Honestly I haven't seen him any anything since Enterprise which I didn't really watch.

Didn't even know he was still acting. Quantum Leap was the shite though!

rewatched Enterprise on Netflix and agree that he wasn't very strong

Loved him on Quantum Leap, though

Couldn't make it through the pilot of NCIS:NOLA

I think I like him better in roles where he has some comedic relief, like Quantum Leap. He comes off as too brooding in the straight serious roles. (I haven't seen the new NCIS show so I don't know how his character is there.)

But Quantum Leap also had awesome writing going for it too, IMO, so that helped.

He's a perfect TV series lead, he's just stuck doing that ridiculous accent right now.

I don't recall ever reading he was the problem with Enterprise. I think Janeway was disliked far more than Archer.

Enterprise relied way to much on time travel reset buttons. As bad as Enterprise was, it actually was finally getting interesting when they cancelled it.

The mirror universe Enterprise episodes were gold.

I thought he was perfectly cast as an aging out of work actor in Men of a Certain Age.

He knows how to lineup the other actors before the director yells action.

He was good in Chuck. He was pretty good in Quantum Leap. He was... well... we shall not discuss Enterprise other then to say that there were worse actors on the show then him.

He caught a lot of grief for doing the furrowed brow look for pretty much every mood/ situation. At least on the old Television Without Pity boards.

I was about to say that this was the one of the roles that most suited him. The thing with Bakula is that the more acting he does, the more 'clueless' he looks ( example). It's just the way his face expresses things, which sort of has a weird effect when he's put in leadership roles. In those mirror-universe Enterprise episodes it was perfect though because he was playing a leader who could easily be taken advantage of because of his own hubris.

I liked quantum leap for the time it was on.

It's a show that I think could be repackaged today by a solid network and do well. Quantum leap and highlander

yup, pretty much, never could stand QL,,, stupid concept, stupid writing, stupid acting.. stupid show. His Enterprise acting,, pretty bad really.

No way I can watch NCIS nerlins..

Seems like a good person, don't dislike the guy at all, and he's got one hot wife, but yea, just not very good for an actor.

hell ya to the hot wife brah!
