for those of you who heard it, what were your thoughts?

I know Matt takes his fair share of heat on the boards but I like him. However, his interview with SVP yesterday was very uncomfortable to me. He came off as trying way, way too hard to be a funny guy with SVP but SVP didn't seem to want anything to really do with it. He just seemed like he was ready to go.

Did anyone else feel this way?

I heard that as well...SVP wanted no part Of Matts "funny BIZ". SVP took him to school yesterday.........

His own profile on Twitter says it best.

I like Matt. But, yeah, I got the exact same impression. Although, I feel like it got better towards the end.

Honestly not sure if it was all Matt's fault. It seemed like SVP was tired, ready to go home and would have been a tough interview for anyone at that point.

I agree, DamnStrong. I just thought it was really awkward when Matt wanted to basically have the same chemistry with SVP that Russillo does.

I disagree. Wonder if some people on the rant are as critical of themselves as they are of others.

I think that's a common theme for Moscona, IMO. I didn't hear the interview, but if SVP "bigtimed" him, it says a lot.

Having said that, I'm rooting for Moscona and hope he succeeds.

I have nothing against Matt in any way, whatsoever. I just thought that interview could've been better.

who am I though? I'd be terrible at interviewing somebody as big as SVP

Praying for Matt and his family though

ESPN journalists tend to think way more of themselves than most

Right off the bat MM asked him if he was on his way to the airport to come to BR. SVP said something like "uh no- I just got done with my show. Then I have to show up to work tomorrow and ...do my show and then fly there Thursday night late..."

Then MM threw out some really weird reference about some guy that went to the same high school as SVP and it was kind of awkward.

SVP is the last person that should act like he didn't want to be there for an interview after all the times he's complained about athletes doing that to him.

I imagine this is exactly what it was like.

Why do young people think SVP is such a cool dude? He's basically 50.

The whole interview reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where George had the "cool" friend who wore his hat backwards.

He is so desperate to get on ESPN radio nationally. Look how hard he tried to insert himself in the Ryan Theriot Dodgers tweets yesterday.

Sucks when Josh Innes leaves you behind.

Exactly. His pun about being known by three letters was kinda cool and showing respect to SVP but he just blew it off and it went downhill from there.

Not Matt's fault. And frick SVP for being tired and wanna go home and shite. Matt's got more shite to worry about than his big-league arse and still has energy and enthusiasm on his show.

That said, I hope SVP has a great time here and one-ups his 2012 experience with a Tiger Victory.

This is Matt's biggest problem when he has guests that are legitimate personalities. He tries to sound like they've been besties their entire lives. His Rob Ryan interview was one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever heard on radio.

Cool is like a fine wine. It gets better with age. There are very few figures under 40 these days that I would call cool. The information, instagram, selfie age has put an end to that. The younger generation tries way too hard these days.
