Will a game like ARMA III ever come out for consoles?

I was watching some videos on this game from Luetin (I used to watch a lot of his BF3 videos, they're pretty good). It's on PC and I think the reason this type of game is so popular is because it's on PC and that mods can be created and the game can be changed to fit any kind of play style.
But I just honestly like the core premise. There are tons of weapons, vehicles, and everything is very simulation-oriented and authentic(from what I can tell).
So, will this kind of game ever hit the new consoles?

No. It's to big. Maps make BF maps look like CoD maps.

The original Operation Flashpoint made it's way to the Xbox, and the two sequels to consoles as well, so it's possible. I just don't think the military sim market is heavy on the console end. There is so much you miss out on when you take it away from PC. And not just mods.
It could happen, but I'm betting against.

It would be nearly impossible to map all of the button commands in a game like Arma to a controller.
Arma has controller support but it sucks and is limited. You still have to use a keyboard for certain things even when playing.

The best part about this game is the mods, not sure you would even want it on console.

Is there like a 1 year probation period for new PC Master Race members before they can start proverbially pulling out their elitist dicks? or is it as soon as you load your OS?

I'm not sure why you haven't gone PC yet.

I'm not sure that game will ever make it to console. They may never finish the PC version.

DayZ on console is going to be very limited IMO
It will be fun because it's DayZ but it's going to be the same as having Minecraft on console.

I don't know how people are still playing the standalone with the amount of hackers. Mod is definitely a lot nicer with the big mashup mods and less hackers since they all disappeared to standalone. Infistar has done a good job of getting a lot of the ones that stayed.

quote:I bought both those Operation Flashpoint games and I liked them. They were very limited though. The first one, Dragon Rising, was very hardcore. It was better looking than Red River, but you were limited in what you could kit out. The game decided what gun you would use in Dragon Rising. Red River gave you more freedom, but it suffered in graphics a little more and the games really couldn't deliver what they intended.

Even though these new consoles aren't that close to being gaming PC's, I was hoping they were close enough to give me BF4 graphics with a large scope open game like ARMA III.
From what y'all are saying is that the mods are truly what make game great. Didn't Day Z come from ARMA II? I'm not solely interested in Day Z, but I'm interested in the military sim part of the game.
Anyway, thanks for the responses.

They are fun to play with, but like I said, it isn't the only thing. Stout brought it up that you end up restricting how you play the game when you have to condense it all to a controller. You can try to fit all of the original game's features into that setup, but it's never smooth and most of the time it's too frustrating to learn.

Yeah, DayZ was a mod that started out in ARMA 2.
There are all kinds of mod packs that online squads run to make missions more simulation oriented to get rid of the COD/BF rambo styles and they build game mods like some of the domination servers and such. The game is really built around how you want to mod it, people do some pretty kick arse things.

Maybe I'll just build a PC.
