I hope they coexist about two weeks longer this year than the last few.

I thought it was the most clever walk up song of all time.

From the D1B podcast previewing the SEC:
Kendall Rogers: From an individual player standpoint, we are going to go through real quick and give our picks for player, pitcher, and freshman of the year.
First of all for player of the year, I made a last second switch here. In my actual preview in front of me, I have Alex Bregman of LSU, but I’m going to switch that to Dansby Swanson of Vanderbilt. I think when you look at those two, honestly it’s almost impossible to pick between them. If you had to pick one of the two, I’d hate to be a scouting director or a GM having to pick one of the two, because I love both of them. I think with Dansby, he is such an amazingly fluid defensive guy to go with his offensive skillset. For some reason I feel like he is a little bit more stable. I think Bregman is stable, but for some reason I feel like Swanson is near flawless. I’d go with Dansby there; what about you?
Aaron Fitt: That to me is such a tough one. It really is. You are absolutely right. I got back and forth on this one, because those are the two guys. For me, it’s Bregman. I’m a Bregman [guy], I’m a Swanson guy and a Bregman guy. I don’t want to dither too much on this one. I just think Bregman is the heart and soul of that team. And Swanson is too for his team, but I believe in Bregman’s bat. He’s the proven shortstop here. This will be Dansby’s first year playing shortstop at the Division 1 level. I think he is entire capable of doing it. He’s got the range. He’s got the arm strength. He’s got the hands and the actions. He’s got the whole package. But Bregman has already proven he can do it. It’s a coin toss; take your pick. If you’re taking Dansby, I will take Alex. I think it’s win/win.
…Pitcher of the Year…
Rogers: We are looking at freshman of the year, I’m going to go back to the Ole Miss Rebels wagon here. I’m going to go with Tate Blackman. I’m a believer. When I talk to coaches around the league and I talk to coaches in the region, a lot of guys have talked about him. It’s not just Mike Bianco, it’s other guys that have seen this kid in high school, and a lot of people think that Tate Blackman is going to be a big time player. I know Bianco feels like he has an advanced bat for his age. He was their leading hitter in the fall. He’s going to have a big role for them. So, for me, it would be Tate Blackman, but there are a lot of other good choices, Alex Lange at LSU, Alex Destino a guy at South Carolina I have a feeling you’re going to mention him, J.J. Schwarz at Florida, and Luke Bonfield at Arkansas. What is your feeling on this one?
Fitt: Love all those guys. Really love Tanner Hauck at Missouri; you mentioned [Keaton] McKinney [from Arkansas] earlier, very talented and can make a big difference. I’m going to go with Alex Lange, because I think if LSU is going to be as good as we think they are going to be, they NEED Lange and Jake Godfrey as freshman to make big impacts. I think it sets up well for him to do so. He’s got a chance to step in and be that Friday night guy for a top 10 team. I don’t think he has to do too much, because I think the team around him is so good. He’s got great stuff. We talked about him last week, I think 90-94 with a downhill plane, big ole body guy with a power curveball and a feel for a change-up. It sounds like he is ready to do this; kind of do what [Florida’s] Logan Shore did last year as a Friday guy as a freshman. So, as much as I love Alex Destino, I was certainly on the fence about that one. I think Destino is going to come in and hit the ground running for South Carolina. He could have a monster year, and they need him to. That’s a lineup that has a lot of nice, kind of gritty, upper-classmen, but not a ton of star power position player-wise. I think Destino will give them that. So, that would be my other choice; but if I had to pick one guy, I’m going to go with Lange.
Rogers: Speaking of that, you picked Lange; on our freshman hotlist in the premium aspect of our SEC preview, LSU’s Alex Lange is joined by Jake Godfrey, right handed pitcher, and Jake Latz a lefty, both freshmen that are going to factor in a lot of innings…
