Are cell phones allowed? Trying to figure out how I will pass the time.
How is the selection process? What can I do to get myself automatically disqualified?

I had Jury Duty in NOLA a few months ago. It wasn't bad at all. Across the hall was a "work space" there was a desk and only 3 people in there. It was great not having to sit in general population. The Wifi worked and I was able to get a ton of work done. Wasn't a bad experience at all.

Tell them you look forward to serving on the Justice League of Ascension Parish and you're prepared to swiftly bring the defendent in question to justice. They will probably not require your services anymore after that.
