which is better w/ phone: using a miracast dongle or using a slim port adapter f

i have a lg g2 phone and looking to mirror it onto a tv while being stuck in a hotel while working. i would also use it while home to stream movies instead of using the laptop. what would be my best option...ive tried doing a little research but would like some of your opinions. i already have an extra hdmi cord laying around so i wouldnt have to worry about that being extra cost. i have seen that the two differnt options run about the same cost on amazon. recommend a name brand also when giving your opinion..appreciate it!
