The good news: Darrell Issa will win tomorrow and keep the 49th CA House seat in Republican hands.

The other good news: Darrell Issa then has to give up his gavel as Chairman of the House Oversight & Reform Committee, sparing the country any more of those hissy-fit spats with Elijah Cummings that always seemed to distract from the serious work of the committee.

Life is good.

I don't understand why people were so excited about him.

He never got anything done. He just used his position as a soapbox to stay in the limelight.

I like Issa and appreciate what's he's done, but with all of the evidence he's gotten of wrongdoing (Fast and Furious and other investigations) he's not got much to show for it. I know the Dems have stonewalled and destroyed evidence, but I think we need to give someone else a chance.

It won't be Gowdy. The chairmanship will likely go to Jason Chaffetz, Jim Jordan or Mike Turner.

I'm familiar with Chaffetz. I seem to remember him doing good work though not as good as Gowdy.

Not familiar with Jordan or Turner.

Actually, Jordan is the #2 interrogator on that committee and that earned him a spot on the Benghazi committee with Gowdy. I'm guessing you know him by sight if not by name. Chaffetz has been a bulldog in the interrogation area as well, but the fact that he runs to the media with "breaking news" after every committee hearing prevented him from a spot on the Benghazi committee, despite being among the most knowledgeable people in the House on that topic. That same tendency may prevent him from getting this chairmanship. Jordan's plate is pretty full, so there's a good chance it will go to Turner of Ohio.

Was that directed at me? Whether it was or not, Issa CAN'T be chairman any more, it's not like someone decided to replace him.

Issa isn't a republican worth voting for. Just voting to keep the seat in GOP hands like you said. I can't wait for him to fade into obscurity.

What results has he attained since becoming Chair? I like him as well, but he has done a poor job IMO although he is stonewalled by D's at every turn.
