here is his web page
I have been having a hard time trying to pick between Claitor and Graves for this race when I stumbled across Trey Thomas.
In short, he is a black republican. He has very little chance of winning, but given that this race is going to a run-off anyway, I think I might vote for him as a symbolic gesture of support for widening the base of support for Republicans.
It would be nice if he could get above 1%, that would be a feat in this crowded race.
But don't just vote for him because he is a black republican; read about his background and issue positions. I think a lot of you will be impressed.
Example on Minimum Wage:

Example on Minimum Wage:
quote:
Minimum Wage Increase – As a former teacher, any time I see one of my former students serving at a restaurant or stocking a grocery store shelf, I ask a very serious question. “So, when are you going to manage or even own this business?” Some laugh as if I’m joking, but I make it a point to let them know that I believe in them and believe that the entry level job making minimum wage or just above it is not the limit of their potential. Working their way up the ladder of that company or using the money from that job to gain higher education for another career is the form of “wage increase” on which I want them to focus. Any successful employer understands the value of employees who make themselves indispensible and are willing to promote and/or pay more to keep them if at all possible. So, the problem in our economy is not increasing the amount a company is required to pay workers in entrylevel positions which will also reduce the number of entry-level positions a company is able to hire. The problem is making sure entrylevel workers have the opportunity to gain experience and increase skill sets in their current position which increase their ability to pursue more happiness and more money at higher skilled positions. While the government should have a hand in helping create those opportunities, it also must be careful that the government doesn’t undermine the need for workers to have some drive and initiative to continuously strive to better themselves as well

I like that position. I'll have to review his website later.
I won't be voting in the 6th, though.
