Sure saintsfan, lsualum, secman will have thoughts on this off weekend for football. I am NOT saying anything bad happens yet, and she certainly gets this 4th year, but we were a top program for 9 years before Van, he went to a final four and left us a top 25 team but after 4 years of NC we have seen some nice NCAA wins but very poor (IMHO) sec play for this program. We also have had a good number of off the court issues and recruiting misses. If we finish 7th or worse in SEC! And miss NCAA I think she needs to go. My prediction is we will win about 20 and go .500 in SEC. Will it be enough?

I know first hand all he did was golf at the Uclub. He was only brought in to see if he could capitalize on Fowles in his first year. after that, he went to the driving range.

As far as Caldwell-I am not happy with her recruiting success, but on the court she's been successful. it's a peculiar deal

Not defending Caldwell but the SEC is pretty good. South Carolina, A&M and Tennessee are all top five pre season. Kentucky sits just outside the top ten.

I don't like being number seven in the SEC in any sport but it could be a difficult year to break out to the top.

For me her salary dictates better than 7th. I think she's been fortunate in getting to play the first two rounds of the tourney at home her first two years.

Need to see progress and better than 7th or else I think it's fair, given what she's being paid, to evaluate critically and demand accountability.

Ok, we can agree to disagree on Van, but I don't think any of us thought in year 4 we would be looking at a 7th place SEC finish...especially with no Pat Summitt anymore. It is IMHO unacceptable if we finish there or less and miss ncaa. NC is paid well (and I think fairly) but to win at at least a top 15 level. Something she has yet to do. And it's not like she has not had time and resources to build here. Time to win....

Women's hoops today is similar to men's hoops of the 70's and early 80's where the committe awards teams a home court in the first two rounds to boost attendance.

LSU has been the beneficiary of that the last two years, when in reality they really didn't earn that advantage through their regular season play.

She isn't going anywhere after this season no matter what happens. They are very young after having lost Kenney/Plaisance/McKinney. There is ZERO chance she gets run before the end of next year.

Well, I think we have to be realistic. The current roster is going to be hard pressed to finish higher than 7th this season. We have a GREAT backcourt but, a very weak frontcourt. So I'm not really expecting much more than a twenty win season this year.

With that being said, the thing that concerns me is recruiting. I thought she did well recruiting her first three years. But, this new freshmen class is nothing to write home about. It's IMPERATIVE that she pull in Kalani Brown in this next class. If not, I'm not sure what the future will hold. Don't think she should be fired. She has taken the team to back to back NCAA sweet sixteens............which Van was unable to do. But I'm not sure she'll deserve a raise or long extension if there's no improvement beyond that.

Oh cool...someone played the "where's Pokey" card in a women's basketball thread. How original.

I don't think LSU gets Kalani Brown. I hope I am wrong.

I understand we are young, but that is part of the issue, why after 5 recruiting classes are we young! 7th is not acceptable, and if she finishes with losng sec makes she shud be run IMHO. But again don't think she will. Ballard alone should be good for .500+ sec and while sec is good, we also have some TERRIBLE teams, so IMHO no excuse to not win in top half.

Ballard just needs to keep her act together...she has been known to stray from the straight and narrow off the court. This is her team now. She needs to be the leader.

Ballard can not be counted on, write it down if they are relying on her to make this a big year, fans will be disapointed. As for NC it is also Miriam S decision and she loves NC so can't see them firing NC after this year. As for where thye will finish, I say bottom half of SEC and no bid, and saintsfan will say that is a good year and NC is building for the future...after the past 4 long years...hope I'm wrong but don't see us being much better....average coaches, average players means average team..

If she can just bring in better classes we will have no issues making runs, she has proven she can get the most out her teams and always seem to find ways.
