Orman has made donations to both Democrats and Republican candidates, with public records showing that in the mid 2000’s he made donations mostly to Democrats, including contributions toBarack Obama's campaign in 2007,Harry Reid,[9][10] Hillary Clinton,[9][10]Dennis Moore,[10] Nancy Boyda[10] and Al Franken.[10] He also donated to Republicans Scott Brown,[10] and Todd Akin[10] in 2006. Orman said that “I’ve made contributions to lots of political candidates over time, and I’ve generally been disappointed with the results.”

Anybody that gives money to Harry Scumbag Reid is not an Independent and therefore lacks sound judgement. frick this guy. LINK

He claims to have voted for Obama in '08, but voted for Romney in' 12. Gave money to Reid and Al Franken, two of the most liberal senators and claims to be an "Independent". Bitch please.

Dude sounds like the biggest flip flopper ever.

He's independent in name only and exactly akin to Angus King and Lincoln Chafee and there's virtually no question that he'll be caucusing with the Dems if he wins.

It's virtually no accident and no mere coincidence that the democrat dropped out to make room for Orman.

He's a snake in the grass that you have to watch out for.

Yep. Can't win in a red state so they disguise themselves as an independent. Sad that the people of Kansas are being duped like this.

His campaign is run by democrats.

I think it's a foregone conclusion whose corner he is in.

Republicans deserve to lose in Kansas. They have mismanaged that state so bad it's unbelievable. Roberts is in trouble because Brownback is on the ticket.

The mention of King just 3 days before Susan Collins reelection in Maine is noteworthy. King moved from being a Democrat to an Independent to run for Governor in 1994. King won with only 35% of the vote, edging out the Democrat by 1 point. The 3rd place finisher, at 23%, was a still relatively unknown Republican woman who, by losing, was free to run for the Senate two years later. Susan Collins won in '96 by 5 points, in 2002 by 16 points and in 2008 (when Obama won by 18points in Maine) she won by23 points.

As of today, she has a 32 point lead over Shenna Bellows in the RCP averages.

If (and I'm still saying IF) the Republicans win the Senate on Tuesday, Collins will have finally got her revenge on King for that 1994 election - because she will be sitting with the majority both in committees and on the Senate floor, while
"Independent" King will play a relatively non-factor role as a member of the minority.

He's one of the many toolbags who proclaim themselves an "independent moderate" but is a straight up Democrat. It's an insidious effort to shift the Overton window to the left on top of a ploy to get a DEM elected in KS.

Everything is relative. This is Shenna Bellows:

"Shenna is a leader in women’s rights and reproductive freedom. She is a graduate of Emerge Maine. She has been recognized for her work to advance women’s health and reproductive choice by awards from the University of Maine Women’s Studies Department, Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center, the American Association of University Women, the Frances Perkins Center and the Maine Democratic Party.

Shenna believes that coalitions can change the world. In addition to working in coalition to advance voting rights and marriage equality, she was a leader in the Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition, the Maine Choice Coalition, the Women’s Leadership Coalition, and the Maine Freedom of Information Coalition."

Collins votes with the Dems more than any other Republican Senator, but still only a third of the time. She has voted with the Republicans 64% of the time in this 113th Congress (Murkowski is next at 67%) and voted with the the Republicans 66% of the time in the 112th Congress.

Shenna Bellows is a leftist feminist who would, like Shaheen here in NH has, likely vote with the Dems 99% of the time.

Collins' voting record frustrates me. Bellows' voting record would sicken me.

When you're hungry, "half a loaf is better than none" is more than just an expression.

(There have been 5,637 roll call votes since Collins was elected to the Senate. She has not missed a single one of them. Points given for showing up every day for 18 years and doing her job, whether I agree or not.)
