Are you referring to Stringer and Hickey, LSU's all time leaders in three pointers? I would hardly call them "brick shooters"

Actually Darrel Mitchell is the all time leader in 3 pointers made.

We're going 11-7 in the SEC

Give me 13-5. We'll lose two OOC too. One hard fought and one we just shouldn't. Only teams in the SEC that will be able to handle our athleticism are Kentucky and Florida.

The kid from Australia, the kid from Alexandria, and the point guard from Georgia will all be in the mix to relieve these guys. The big guy also that was a juco transfer last year will get in the mix also to help on the defensive end.

Darcy Malone, Aaron Epps, Tim Quarterman, and John Odo are the names you're looking for. I'd also look out for Jayln Patterson and Brian Bridgewater. I think Bridge might surprise a lot of people. Really wish Malik Morgan hadn't transferred and we'd gotten Craig Victor. They'd of been huge for wing depth. But Victor wants to ride the bench at Arizona, so it's all good.

Victor would have been the cherry on top for this recruiting class.

A starting lineup of:

Gray
Hornsby
Martin
Victor
Mickey

Would have been nasty

Stringer was a very effective 3 point shooter but shot poorly inside the arc. Hickey shot poorly everywhere on the court.

Would've been incredible. But like I said, he'll get to be a role player like Rico Gathers rather than be a top option here.

2nd best team in the state behind La Tech. 7th best In SEC. 3 or 4 seed in the NiT.

3 or 4 seed in the NIT would be a huge dissapointment

Both Hickey and Stringer would have good games and then they'd go into hiding for 3 or 4 games before they'd have another one. I'm glad they're gone.

If the new backcourt is legit and lives up to the hype, better coaching (Musselman) and improved play from Martin, this team will definitely make the tourney and may even go a couple of games deep into it.

Last year was dissapointing. PERIOD. Not because LSU finished .500 in SEC play, but because they finished .500 in a very weak conference.

This...I don't think fans overexpected last year. It's all relative. We had definite deficiencies personnel-wise last year but IMHO fewer than a majority of our SEC peers.

If the two transfers are as good as advertised, and Mickey and Martin improve as they should there is absolutely no reason we should not be an NCAA tournament team...period.

Musselman should improve the coaching. And I think that improvenent is crucial. Let's see how the coaching dynamic plays out.

Geaux Tigers!

Mickey is already an SEC-caliber player. Also, our backcourt isn't really young, if you're referring to Hornsby and Gray, they just haven't played at LSU. Though Quarterman and Patterson are young. As far as Freshmen contributing, obviously Elbert will have to and I'm guessing Patterson will get some quality minutes. As far as newcomers, don't sleep on Bridgewater, he could be a really versatile frontcourt player for us this year. I think we're a tournament team and will be disappointed with anything less. And I'm pretty easy to please.

Agreed. Also, Epps is already second only to Mickey in athleticism. Kid can jump with anyone. Reminds me a little of the first time I saw Dewayne Scales back in the day. Martin will likely flash way more of his considerable skills now that he's fully healthy for the first time. ER3 has trimmed more than 30 lbs from his large frame since the end of his Sr. season which points to him taking this campaign pretty seriously. Andy your right, Mr. Bridgewater is a man. This team will win over 20 and get into the dance this year. Chemistry will determine just how high they can go but physically, they won't be pushed around by anyone they play.

Yeah Gathers made a huge mistake. He's been coming off the bench his first 2 years at Baylor. Would have been a starter here from day 1.

Good gosh imagine this this year:

Gray
Hornsby
Martin
Mickey
Gathers

Victor off the bench along with Robinson, Quarterman.

This is a team that is deep and has talent but lacks chemistry. Their non-conference schedule is for that chemistry. I think their a top 50 team in the nation but not sure exactly where.

I predict a top 25 seed half the year with a 12-6 conference record. They get a bid.

Have not looked at the Tech squad this year but do they have any NBA locks. LSU has three and it could be 4 or 5 down the road.

Tech is the team I continuously want LSU to schedule. I would be totally okay playing a game in Ruston if a home and home is necessary to play them. They have a really good team every year and would be a great contest with LSU.
