C++ error and paradox interactive games.

This is fricking maddening as hell. I love EU4 and CK2 but they're unplayable, mainly CK2. Whether it's 5 minutes or two hours, the game will always close and a C++ error comes up. The next time I try and load a save, that save won't work for more than 5 minutes before the error starts up again and I have to start a new save. I've tried downloading the new windows stuff that they recommend. It didn't work. Anyone have any advice?
