Oregon is only a 7.5 point home favorite over the worst Stanford team in 5 years

What gives? Oregon has supposedly one of the biggest home field advantages in football. Something seems fishy about this.

Still not a great matchup for them.

Oddsmakers think Stanford can make the Ducks play the game on their slower, physical terms. Recent history suggests they can, although the current Cardinal team looks pretty average.

Uh, lines are set for the public perception.
People still think Stanford is legit and owns Oregon.
People have short memories and remember last year.

Stanford has always given Oregon a tough time

Stanford has the best defense in the PAC-12 and Oregon has a really bad defense this year. There's a decent amount of evidence that indicates this Oregon team might be slightly overrated.
If Stanford's offense starts rolling then this team could very well win the PAC-12. Winner of this game likely wins the PAC-12 North.

Stanford actually has the 2nd most efficient defense in the nation. But don't let the fact get in the way of your square logic

this is true. A lot of people still tend to think that game lines show what vegas predicts the outcome to be...not the case

Public is all over Oregon.

In 2010 and 2011 Oregon owned Stanford, not the other way around.

And the line went the other way

The line is set to attract equal betting on both sides
HOWEVER
Public money doesn't sway a line. Money from insiders does.
it opened around 10.5 There's some smart money and a good bit of it going in on the Cardinal.

5 whole years? no way!
seriously, some of you people must've been in middle school or something when reggie bush was playing against Stanford
just call it a down year instead of "this is their worst successful year ever"

This is probably the worst Oregon team in that same span.

It's called hyperbole Fox. It's used for dramatic effect.

They lost in the zoo to RichRod and his (then) unranked Arizona team...they're not exactly unbeatable at home.

Stanford's defense ranks #2 and #3 according to S+P and FEI. They opened up the offense a little to cater to their personnel against Oregon State that has been one of the better defenses in the PAC. They lost to USC and ND by 3 points. It's tough to win by a lot against the furd.

Stanford showed a pulse on offense last week. albeit against one of the worst Oregon State teams in recent memory.
