Looking @ the Big 12 OOC Power 5 wins, thankfully the Big Ten still counts

Looking at the Big 12's OOC games against the power 5 conferences- Aside from the Big 10, I think the conferences only win is against Tennessee
TTech- blow out loss @home to Arkanas (a team that has lost their last 16 SEC games)
Baylor- none (Northwestern State or Buffalo is their best OOC opponent)
Kansas- lost to Duke
Kansas St.- lost@home to Auburn
OU- beat Tennessee(another winless SEC school)
OK Lite- lost to Fla. State
Texas- lost to BYU & UCLA
West Virginia- lost to Bama/beat Maryland
Iowa State- beat Iowa
TCU- beat Minnesota
No way the Big 12 champion should get into the playoff over a 1 loss SEC/Pac12/ACC/Notre Dame team

Those wins aren't even good.
The ACC is 1-4 against the B1G. Of course VT beat OSU, and that's really all anyone remembers. If FSU has a loss, they should be out before a 1 loss team from any other conference. However, they are defending champs and that will probably play in whether or not it should
Edit:
I think it should be SEC/Pac 12/Big 12/B1G/ACC is they are equal losses. However, FSU is probably ahead of any B1G team with 1 loss

ACC or ND wtf? ACC is worst P5 conference by a fairly significant margin, they have 14 teams, one really good team (FSU), a solid team (Clemson) and 12 teams that are average at best or completely suck.
Half of the Big 12 is ranked in the top 25

On the flip side the Big 12 doesn't really have any embarrassing losses like the Big 10 or ACC has. Which is why they are behind the SEC/Pac-12 but ahead of the Big 10/ACC.

Bill Hancock cited Minnesota as a quality win for TCU on Finebaum yesterday.

Same Minnesota team that won't be favored in another game this season and will likely end 6-6 or 7-5

Unless it's Kansas State or TCU.

If K-State wins out they could have a case depending on other factors.

If K-State wins out they are 100% in.
No question.

Minnesota is such a fraud. They can't beat anyone of quality under Jerry Kill.
1-9 against the AP Top 25.
They started the season 6-1 and there is a real chance they end the season 6-6 or 7-5 as they get Iowa, Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin over the next four weeks.

Looks like the Big 12's best OOC win was a close loss to Auburn

Could be.
Doesn't really matter. If TCU or K-State win out, there's a strong chance they get in.
K-State is a lock if they win out.

Do you think there is any way program prestige plays into this thing at the end?
I don't think in any way OSU has played well enough to get in, but will there be pressure to put them in if they only have 1 loss at years end?

Didn't they go from 8-2 to 8-5 last year

Losing at home to VT throws any legitimacy of your season out the window.

Not really.
I think the committee just showed that the media isn't in control anymore. It's gonna be based off resume. Who you beat, who you lost to, and where you played.
Teams are actually going to have to earn their ranking. Not on brand name and not on the eye test. It's about results.
Ohio State is going to have a hard time getting in unless a lot of other teams lose. Michigan State has a better chance because they have a good loss. And that's why they are ranked so far ahead of Ohio State right now.

Like I said, they'll need A LOT of help. A lot.
If FSU wins tonight, it's almost impossible they lose again. Oregon should win out. An SEC team will get in. So Ohio State will somehow have to win out and also have a better resume than the Big 12 champion or a second SEC team.
I just don't see how they'll be able to do that with the schedule they play. They're gonna need to win out in a dominating fashion, hope the SEC West runner up has 2 losses, and hope TCU, Kansas State, AND Baylor just tank down the stretch.
Ohio State might not only have to beat Michigan State next weekend, they may have to beat them by 2-3 scores.

That has nothing to do with the panel at the end potentially comparing OSU to say Kansas State. Both conference champs, one has millions (billions??) of tons of $ invested in football, will bring fans, and has top 5 recruiting classes.
I just wonder if that will play into people's thoughts. It shouldn't

The difference is that Kansas State and Ohio State's resumes wouldn't even be in the same galaxy. Not even the same universe.
K-State would have wins @Oklahoma, @West Virginia, @TCU, and @Baylor.
All of those teams would be ranked, most of them in the top 10 or top 15. And they'd have a MUCH better loss than Ohio State.
Maybe if you compare Ohio State to a team with a resume closer to theirs, you could make the argument for program prestige coming into play. But not with a team like Kansas State, or even TCU.

Oh I agree, and I am in no way saying OSU belongs anywhere near this party as of now. All OSU fans can hope for is to beat Sparty by 10+, Nebraska win out and be top 10 when OSU plays them for the B1G title. That would give OSU 2 great wins in the last month of the year.
I just want it known that at the end of the day I think prestige plays into it, and if they have a chance to take 2 teams with semi-equal resumes (TCU/KSU/Baylor/OU/WVU could beat each other up to where 3 of those teams has 3+ losses and dont look good anymore), they may "surprise" people and let them in.
This shouldn't be an issue, as it should be 8 teams with all conference champs...but that's for another day
