It shouldn't be, but it's another case of "i want to be treated like everyone else, except i want people to treat me special because of what i do in the bedroom."

I just don't understand why someone's sexual preference makes them special? Or why you deserve a parade over it, or deserve to be treated as a protected class?

Do all men who like blowjobs get a parade?

Tim Cook is an extremely influential person in our society. Probably more so than most politicians. But yeah, it's like a democrat coming out of the closet. Not as sexy or controversial as a Republican coming out of the closet.

The interesting part I guess is that Apple transcends partisan lines. Lots of anti-gay folks buy Apple products. I don't anticipate that to stop.

I don't know about highly, but is much more risky. Chance of Aids for gays is much higher than in straight males.

How is Tim Cook more influential and any other person? Does the Iphone 6 come with a ghey app? Do you honestly people think views are skewed one way or another because the CEO of a company what sells billions of products used by people of ALL orientations is a homo or not?

Surely to goodness you don't really think that.

Keep the anger over the game on the SECr.

We can be angry over political issues here.

if you're the CEO of any major company, clearly your sexuality hasn't prevented you from accomplishing anything

The media is the single biggest culprit in all of this. Look how much they played up a 7th round NFL Draft selection.

In fact, the Cowboys just cut Sam about a week ago. One of DFW's sports journalists, Dale Hansen, strongly implied that Dall released the "SEC Defensive POTY" because of his sexual orientation.

Why would Dallas have ever signed him in the first place if they didn't want him? Does anybody think the NFL would go to that extreme just to "prove" that they weren't worried about having an openly gay player in the league?

Just wait until we have our first serious presidential candidate who is gay.

Edit - I guess I should revise that to read "openly" gay.

I fail to see how any of this is important or relevant to anything.

I wonder how this is news, cause pretty much everyone knew he was gay.

Because stupid people like SEC Crazy and Revelator think gays are perverts all going to hell and when one of the biggest names in the tech industry and pop culture comes out, it quashes the myths of the ignorant.

Actually yes. Because stupid people like SEC Crazy and Revelator have kids who grow up in an atmosphere where being gay means you're worthless and seeing icons of pop culture help the self-esteem of those kids who have been beaten down time and time again by the ignorant.

Imagine for a second growing up in a "Christian home" and realizing at 10 or 12 years old that you're gay after being taught that gays go to Hell. Think about that for a second.

I mean I know it's difficult for you to put yourself in others' shoes. You're conservative. You don't do that. If you did, you'd be a RINO. But if you could for just one second, then you can go back to being closed minded. So just for one second imagine it... then logging on and seeing a hero of yours coming out.

It's quite an impact.

Now close your mind again and continue on.

Gays go to hell as much as any other sinner. (I.e. Everyone.)

That's why Christians believe in Christ as their savior because we are all terribly imperfect and need him for redemption. And also why we shouldn't dwell on our imperfection but lay them at his feet.
