EPL ticket buying advice

I'm just now looking into purchasing tickets, and it seems to be drastically different compared to buying tickets to US sporting events.
I'll be over in the uk from Dec. 23 - Jan. 5. I would be able to see a game in Liverpool or any of the London stadiums. Newcastle might be doable as well.
As far as I can tell from my limited research it appears that you have to be a member of the fan club of whatever side you're trying to buy a ticket for? And tickets are released relatively close to the match day, and in accordance to what level of fan club you're in.
I'm wondering if there is an equivalent of stubhub or some second party seller over there. Are there people outside on match day touting tickets?
Basically any advice is much appreciated. As you can see I don't have a clue. I honestly don't care about the teams playing, but that I actually go to a match. Thanks.

depending on the match, members have first priority and then they eventually open up the tickets to just whoever if they don't sell out.
also, if you are going with someone, some clubs require everyone have a membership and some allow you to buy multiple tickets with one membership.
when i went i went ahead and got a man utd membership bc i did not want to miss out on that game at all. i bought my chelsea vs man city tickets straight from city's website they were on sale to the general public at that point. i also bought a fulham membership to go to the fulham liverpool match at craven cottage but i was able to buy 3 tickets with that membership so my buddies and I just split the cost
there are stub hub type services over there i just forget the name. also only certain teams are "affiliated" with these sites if i remember correctly.
craven cottage was awesome. toured some other london stadiums but i REALLY liked craven cottage. unfortunately they are in the championship now

Don't do it. Seriously, that city, despite the protests of a certain poster here, is a shithole.

Completely depends on the club and match. It's much easier to get tickets for cup matches than league, small/newly promoted clubs to big clubs, etc.

Stubhub has a relationship with some clubs. Best bet is to just go to the club's site or walk up to the office a few hours before the match.

Normally no.

I'd recommend going to a rugby match if you can. And they're much cheaper.

excellent advice both. I suppose i'll just have to set aside some time and visit each clubs site for possible dates and figure it out from there.
PTBob, you mentioned that eventually tickets are available to the general public without a club membership...obviously it would depend on the squad they are playing, but is there usually an excess number of tickets that are made available to the public, or is this pretty rare? obviously there are a lot of factors that would play into this, but I'm just curious. thanks.

the city vs chelsea tickets that i bought were first available to members only right when the fixture was announced, then they were available to "friends of the club" a couple weeks after that (ex-members, I believe). finally, a week before the match they went on sale to the general public since there were excess tickets
BECAUSE IT WAS AT THE ETIHAD AMIRITE GUYS
they opened it up to general public.
This was for an FA cup semi-final so I'm not really sure how they do it for regular premiership games. Sorry :(
SCH should be in here sometime tomorrow and can give you some better info.

Liverpool you can pretty much forget about b/c its so late. Depends on the London club. Arsenal and Chelsea good luck(forget about it). Spurs you will have better luck. West Ham, QPR and Palace are you best chance.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will require you to buy a membership first. Usually around 40 pounds give or take. This only gives you the right to buy tickets. From there you can select the match you would like to attend( at this point is probably sold out). Unless you want to pay hospitality which is absurdly over priced. 400 quid + per ticket. Clubs only put tickets on sale about 2 months in advance of the match. Actually Man United fricked up in August this year and put the whole season up.

Your big clubs this late in the game it will be pretty hard to get a ticket b/c the tickets are loaded on your membership card and thats how you get through the gate. Paper tickets can be hard to come by.

Yes some clubs like spurs actually have an agreement with stubhub. The major secondary market is viagogo which can be expensive.

Those games are basically always sold out and you need a membership as well. I don't even know how much the Newcastle experience runs b/c Mike Ashley milks his fans for every cent. Also Newcastle in Dec and Jan no thanks. shite weather and awful women. They take the whole northerner style of dressing to a new level.
Good luck but if you are in London try one of the smaller clubs.

I tell everyone to go to a Fulham game. They aren't in the premier league anymore but they were when I went. Dempsey was playing for them at the time. Very friendly, intimate atmosphere. It's easily accessible from the tube. The tickets don't require a membership and were only 20 pounds. I had a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back one day.

I'm trying to go to Spurs vs City game on May 2nd. Was wondering the same thing.

I've been a member of the Chelsea club for a few years. It is the ONLY way to get tickets. For big games, you have to have points. Those are gained by going to games, so I am at the bottom of the barrel.
If you have a favorite team, join their club. I have won promotional items over the years that have made my dues worth it.

WHL. Wishful thinking I know. I'm guessing city will have already clinched their CL spot and Spurs will be nowhere near Europe.
I would just be looking for a single ticket though so hoping that increases my chances.

You could be able to buy them straight off the site but members will snap them up first so get a membership. Keep an eye out on their website for tickets. Lots of the clubs let you pick your seat if its not used by a season ticket holder.

Also big no no is buying home section seats and cheering for the away side. After getting punched in the face by someone you will be kicked out for causing a disturbance. Hell people get outed as away fans for not cheering for the home side.

Welp this sounds damn near impossible.
Unless I go to a spurs or Fulham match.
Either way, thanks for the advice.

Some guy right behind us at Craven Cottage was a Liverpool supporter. He accidentally celebrated when liverpool scored and about got his arse kicked immediately. Security promptly escorted him out.

Being there during that holiday period you'll have a lot of games to choose from, in London alone. Just go through club websites of the home team and you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Matches featuring bigger teams are obviously going to be in higher demand.
QPR tickets aren't tough to get. A membership gives you early sale access but even with the limited capacity of Loftus Road, tickets often end up available for general sale (i.e. our upcoming game against Man City)
