How do you know? Seriously. I have no idea how devout he is or isn't.
Not sure that matters though. If he goes to a "westernized" mosque at least he might start the discussion there. Seems like we need more and more of this dialogue.

In other news, story tonight out of Iraq of 30 Sunni Muslims who were executed in public after Isis took over the city.

Now, go back and reread the Pew Poll... I'm a liberal and wonder why we can't keep the Islamic world up to basic standards? These people repress women, gays, non believers and people who arent zealous enough practicing Islam to the extreme.
Undestand the word Islam... It's a set of ideas just like communism. You can't spin it to being racist because people of all colors worship the words of the Koran, a book. This is what makes people so fricking stupid when it comes to this debate.

Most western muslims from the middle east, i guess you could call progressive by their standards but are still fairly conservative. But they don't cause issues and enjoy the western way of life. The more alarming thing now is western whites and blacks converting to islam. I watched some of a BBC documentary on white british women converting.
They all seem to be "lost" in life and find Islam as their answer to give them discipline and shite. Scary thing is they really don't know what they are getting into with their all or nothing approach.
