how easy is it to just join a tailgate?

First piece of advice is to realize you're from the North, which is still Yankee territory, so don't be a douche. Are you going to be by yourself or with a group? If you're by yourself, or it's just you and your wife/girlfriend, then just walk around and say hi to people. If you walk up to most any tailgate and tell them this is your first time to a game in Tiger Stadium, even if you're an Alabama fan, they will welcome you and give you beer and food. Eat a little, drink a little and then let them know that you are still interested in checking out more of the stadium. Ask them for suggestions and say thank you as you get up to continue your tour. We are very proud of our culture and tailgating traditions. The only problem that people run into is if they are complete douchebags, which no one takes kindly too. Smile, be nice and you'll have the best time ever!

LSU's tailgaiting is unlike anything you will see anywhere else. The fans are unlike anything else. They are some of the most passionate people you will ever meet. Feel free to try anything, as Cajun food is really unique. #1 rule for Cajun food: When someone offers, you food, don't ask, just eat it. You will like it, I promise. And remember,

If you are bringing your wife, bring a roll of toilet paper, as while there are plenty of public bathrooms, they all run out of paper rather sooner than later. And with the anticipated crowd on campus being well over 150K, she will need her own. When it comes to drinking/walking around, no glass containers allowed..and it is policed...but any other cup is permitted. I usually get a large go cup from any nearby Circle K store...a gas station. Personally, I'd skip any restaurant food, as the lines will be long & you'd get a lot greater variety/better food by hitting the tailgaters.Wear something suggestive of Chicago, not LSU gear & you'll get all you can eat & drink all day long.Post game/Tiger win, be prepared to do it all over again. When we beat bama, we party just as long & as hard afterwards.
