I refuse to watch this count, but she sounds like she thinks she is morally superior to everyone else b/c she went to Africa. Is that about right?
She's smarter and better than us. She drives a prius, eats organic food, does yoga etc. She's the bitch that drives really slow through the short red light because frick the people behind her.
frick us peons if we even think to keep her from traveling around for 21 days.

I'm pretty sure having the negative test gives her a false imprisonment tort claim against the gov if they hold her.
I can't remember the case, but there's a case study about where a Kmart "loss prevention officer" thought he had caught a shopper lifting some goods. He followed her outside the store and confronted her, "making" her empty her purse and pockets. She had nothing, and her receipt matched everything in her bags. He then made her come back in the store and for 20 minutes walk around to every place he had seen her steal something from, then let her go.
She sued on false imprisonment and won her case. I'm pretty sure this would follow the same lines of thought. She took a test that was negative, the gov had no precedent or reason other than general fear to hold her.

I bet Obama is behind all of this

I did enjoy her closing remarks, "I am the one suffering here". All about the me.
Did she really say that she was suffering? Didn't she just get back from witnessing immeasurable suffering in Africa? That's what she said in her little op-ed. How self-UNaware can this a-hole be.

FIFY.
Hate to use the one word all women find most offensive, but it is particularly fitting in this case.
I hope she actually gets Ebola.

It's not like she's being locked away in a Russian prison. In America, we treat our known criminals like princes. This woman is probably getting the royal treatment.

Should the government force healthy people into quarantine?Remember, she tested negative for the virus.
She had just come from West Africa where she interacted with Ebola victims, and was apparently running a slight fever when she returned. She eventually tested negative, but people within the 21-day watch period HAVE to be tested periodically.
I don't believe this is an infringement on her rights. She knew the consequences when going over there and we have to be cautious. The outbreak of Ebola in Africa was not an accident. Hell, even people who were on the airplane with that one nurse have self-quarantined for 21 days.
This woman is just a serious bitch.

I'm sure any adult would love to be locked away for 21 days without having to deal with real world shite.

But Maine said they can and will lock her arse up in quarantine and she threatened to sue. Can they legally lock her up? I hope so.
she is staying down the road from my place in Rockland, word is this is all show for future lawsuits

she is irritating
Very much so. Unfortunately a quarantine won't make her a pleasant person.
I'd voluntarily go into quarantine, drink all day, order takeout, stay away from work, and play with my dog (they will let you keep your dog with you right?).
I also think it's BS that she has to go despite not having the virus.
This is one of those situations where both sides are right. Maine has to look out for its citizens but it also has to preserve her civil rights.

I think if she really believed in the work she was doing over in Africa, she would understand the suffering this virus can cause not only the victim, but the family as well.
By going off about being quarantined the way she is, it seems like she was over there just for the karma of her "good deeds," and the praise she'll receive. It is as if she didn't really take the seriousness of the virus to heart, and is somehow above those who she says she was trying to help.
Even if she tested negative, she should still understand that people in the US don't want it here, and the media has scared people into believing an outbreak here is a real possibility. She's making it all about her, and not the victims she worked to help in Africa.

Well, it does sound like they could make her a little more comfortable. Living in a tent, no showers, port a potty, no tv. That does kinda suck.
quote:
She described her current conditions as like a "prison", saying that she is being kept in a tent within a building outside the hospital. She has a hospital bed and "a port-a-potty type restroom." Hickox said that she has "no shower facilities" and "no connection with the outside world except my iPhone which I insisted that I brought with me when I arrived late Friday night."

Ok, well let's spin it a little. Do you go home and live with your wife and kids knowing you could expose them to deadly Ebola? I'm not.

If this bitch wants to be mad, be mad at the TV doctor that said she was gonna "self quarantine" but didn't and the nurse/cdc person who got on a goddamn airplane with fever after treating the dallas ebola victim.
These were people who know better and jeopardized lives. I applaud someone for putting their foot down finally.

She better hope she's right. If she gives someone Ebola, she'll be quarantined for 5-10 at the Federal pen
