I think it says a lot. The part about the way games are described is spot-on.

Trash article

@slmandel: i don't often criticize other journalists or defend ESPN, but that Rolling Stone article is basically a long, uninformed message board rant

I don't understand how the Utah-USC's of the college football world are viewed as bad offense and boring but then LSU-Ole Miss is game of the century part 3.

Because utah and usc are inferior in caliber to LSU-Ole Miss.

Talent level matters. I loved the 9-6 Bama/LSU game despite the outcome because we got to see like 40 total players that are playing on Sunday's.

I found nothing wrong with that article. ESPN does in fact influence voter opinion with the way they evaluate SEC teams vs other conferences. The SEC homers wont like this article, but there are some things in this article that you just cant deny.

Just like it did the Big 10 pre-2000? ESPN is going to promote, and talk about who is playing good football. Should they spend a lot of time covering UM and Ohio State over Auburn and Alabama? One rivalry is a playoff game, and the other hasn't mattered in over a decade. Don't blame ESPN, blame the shitty football in other conferences.

FSN interviewed OBJ and Reuben Randle before the ole piss game and asked them about the transition from sec to NFL.

They both said the sec was basically like the NFL, just a little slower.

I'd go with their assesment. Not some nerd journalist.

This is EXACTLY what people are talking about. ESPN has brainwashed the masses into believing that no other conference plays good football except the SEC. Its that type of promoting that leads to comments like "Dont blame ESPN, blame shitty football in other conferences". If you actually read the article, it points out how there is just that...shitty football being played by half the conference. That is something SEC fans just dont want to hear.

Who is playing good football? The Big 12 has KSU, and TCU. Other than that, I am not seeing any good teams. And the playoff committe seems to agree.

And im not advocating the B1G here. I realize our conference needs to play better as a whole, but there ARE good teams in the B1G. This is more so for the PAC12 and BIG 12, which to me are WAAAY undervalued in these rankings.

Not by very much at all. Spreads would be very close between all 4 of those teams. As of now, home team would probably be favored in any matchup between those teams.

Oklahoma sucks. The Big has played two "legit" out of conference games and lost both. The Big bell cow MSU got destroyed at Oregon. OSU lost at home to a horrible Vtech team. Nebraska needed a miracle run to beat McNeese St. The BIG has zero good wins.
