I'm in the process of buying my first house. I'm engaged, and she isn't moving here for another 2 months. I made an offer on a house, without her seeing it. Now I'm expected to go to sleep, and wake up tomorrow to go to work? How the heck is that going to happen?

Either way, she will be mad. Sleep tight.

Have a beer and enjoy the painful descent into adulthood.

Damn, thanks. At least now I know. Maybe I will just have a beer and go to sleep.

I made an offer on my second house without my wife seeing it.

She trust me.

Now on the other had I spent a fortune renovating it to her satisfaction.

She doesn't have a job right now, she is finishing school. I am older, stupid, and am tired of living with my parents again. I lived alone in another city for a while, and just got a job in my home town and moved in with them several months ago. We have looked at other houses together, and made an offer on a very similar one recently. But it was sold to someone else, and I am tired of hesitating and having someone else snatched it up. I just shot from the hip. C'est la vie.

That to me is a little different. By the time youre getting a second house you should know her/your likes and dislikes from your current house.

You just put the offer in and all the jimmies are already rustled? Either you are rejected or you're pseudo locked into the house barring finding literally ANYTHING on the inspection, which the inspector will find to justify his existence. Finding a way out of the sales contract is EASY once you have that inspection report.

Wait till you accept the house with all its flaws and go to the closing and you're REALLY on the hook. Then, rustle jimmies.

which is why I went for it in this one. Every first house is going to have its faults. So. I figure, why not just get one that I am happy with now, and we can learn its faults together?

it's more about the anticipation of how they will react to the offer. I am impatient and want to know now. Instead I have to try to sleep and then wait until they notify us of what they think.
