It sounds like you just need to "go back" and watch those episodes. They are moving forward and you can't keep up.

You don't see how you're doing exactly what they described in that episode?

No. I'm not. As i said, South Park completely changed the format and style of their show. It's not that i now suddenly think the show is bad. They are literally making a different show with the same characters.

It's interesting. I can't remember another show "evolving" like that and remaining popular. Which is a testament to the genius of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. But it is inarguable fact that they have completely transformed the show into something different. And i don't like that difference. I still chuckle at the show, and I'll still watch it. But it's just not as good to me anymore. I like the random solid broad social commentary episodes. The new format is different.

Like i said. I can see it from your point of view. I don't know why you cant understand or admit the validity of mine.

Breesus, if they would have kept the same formulas from older seasons , it would just be The Simpsons v2, a show that nobody watches now.

This is a valid argument. And I would like to say Trey and Matt are funnier and they could've made it work, but Matt Groening is my second favorite TV writer after Parker and both the Simpsons and Futurama fell off in the later seasons. It just happens to television shows. The format runs its course and they hit a stride of perfection and eventually they just burn out. It's a fact of life. I don't understand why pointing out this decline is met with such animosity. And an earlier post i pointed out that i can't recall another show completely changing formats and remaining popular like South Park has.

They don't have to completely do away with the 6 day immediate current event episodes, but a random well thought out episode thrown in here and there would sure be appreciated.

Number 16: This season has sucked. Stop with the 6 days to air thing, go back to random well thought out episodes. Go back to broad social commentary hidden in hilarious plots. Go back to Jimmy stuttering. Go back to learning something at the end of the episodes. And for god's sake kill Kenny.

Dude, if they had kept doing this for as long as South Park has been around you'd be bitching about them needing to get new material.

Don't get me wrong, I've felt the same way about some of their episodes where they clearly find an issue that is popular and churn out an episode with cheap laughs, but to churn out the same jokes would be even worse.

Imagine when South Park goes off the air and 10 years later you decide to re-watch it and imagine how many times you'll go "ohhh yeahhhh, I remember when ____________ was popular"

I knew about the alien thing. I used to look out for it. I haven't in a few years.

That episode was hilarious. Nothing this season even comes close to how funny that episode was.

Was that not the episode that stans parents got divorced? That was like the only sad south park episode. Maybe I'm wrong.

They were getting a divorce. And the season and episode ended on a brutal note. It was purely fantastic.

The big difference to me between the Simpsons and South Park is that the show is still relevant, while the Simpsons became stale after 7 or 8 seasons. I don't know 1 person who watches that show since then. South Park still has an impact on culture today and I know a lot of people who still enjoy it. Their fans are a little more polarized today, compared to 10 years ago, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I don't disagree with you in that I'd like them to try a different model than the 6-day, but I would like to see them move onto something else rather than go back to the old schtick.

That episode wasn't hilarious at all. If you enjoyed that more than Handy Car, or thought it was going in a better direction at that point than this point, well that is just interesting.

Eta: not that handy car was anything groundbreaking, but it was a funny 30 minutes of TV.

I can understand people laughing this season. But i don't understand why people keep defending this season as something great. It's just been slightly better than average show. Nothing hilarious or memorable. Just kind of humorous commentary.

The episodes are too specific and driven by current events. That's my problem. If you don't care about the event they are focusing on the show falls flat. And there's nothing to redeem it because they don't have a plot or character driver story lines anymore. It's a bummer.

Maybe it's because I live in New Orleans. In the south. And I've been too busy to read petty nationwide bullshite this year. Which is what this season is based on.

Episode 1:
No one gives a shite about kick-starter. Not anyone I interact with anyway. And the redskins jokes just didn't land for me. I did think the Goodell bot scene was funny. All the owners on the screens and his clips from press conferences being being used made me laugh my arse off. Other than that it was just a meh episode for me.

Episode 2: gluten free ebola
Ug.

Episode 3:
We don't have a gender/sexual orientation crisis here. I literally never hear about all the transgender stuff or whatever cisgender is unless I happen to read an article from California, Washington, or somewhere in the northeast. An entire episode dedicate to it isn't necessarily wrong, but I didn't think it was hilarious. I don't think I laughed during this episode other than the scene when Randy explained how he makes lorde's music in the garage. That was kind of funny. But they have already done this plot once when Kyle turned into a black guy to play basketball and his dad turned into a dolphin. Does anyone think this episode was better than that?

Episode 4:
Again, uber just started here and no one really uses it. Also, I have no problem with taking cabs. They had such a good opportunity when they brought the camp tardi caca kids back in, but then the episode just fell flat to me. Matthew Maconahey made me chuckle a little though.

That's my point. In this thread South Park has been described as. "not not bad" and "eh it was funny"

That's not how we used to describe South Park.

The alien thing isn't true

I didn't think it was, but I remember one season where I believe they did one in every episode. We used to post pics of it in the episode discussion threads on here. They definitely insert aliens randomly into episodes, but that time IIRC, it happened for an entire season. Stuff like this:

I think this season has been great so far, and I've giggled, chuckled, and busted out laughing many times throughout it so far.

And that's coming from someone who has watched SP since the very first episode aired back in 1997.

Uh so do I cheif, and this is 2014, it doesn't take some extreme investigative ability to know about Uber and kick starter. You are on this site more than me you know about this shite too.

I'm not trying to convince you to like it, but that was pretty weak. I can understand why you don't love it, but I mean they have already peaked, just enjoy it for what it is.

Nobody goes to a rolling stones show to see them play one of their new singles. They go because they appreciate their greatness as a whole, and they still can rock.

These guys have one of, if not the most successful musicals worldwide; they do the show still for the fans.

If you didn't laugh at mr. Mackey in the teacher's lounge blaming everything on gluten, then you've never liked South Park. That was classic Mackey and classic South Park when he did that.

Mackey awesomeness.
