As we can see ^ Ole Miss is the most "dominant" team in the country at 35.5% , just barely nudging out Auburn (35.0%) and Alabama (34.1%).

If you scroll through the past few years we find far less parity, and numbers which support 1-3 dominant programs each year.

2013:
Florida State - 49.2%
Alabama - 42.3%
Stanford - 40.0%

2012:
Alabama - 50.6%
Oregon - 38.3%

2011:
Alabama- 53.9%
LSU- 46.8%

etc, etc, etc.

You Have To Scroll All The Way Back To 2007 Before We See Similar Parity Amongst The Top Teams.

2007:
LSU: 33.7%
Ohio State: 33.4%
USC: 33.2%
WVU: 32.7%

Prediction: This season will be a mess come December....similar to 2007

Calling it now: 2 loss LSU wins a 4 way tie breaker in the west to go to atlanta and beats UGA. Committee won't keep out the SEC champ. Head exploding ensues.

this is the most parity (mediocrity) that i've ever seen in CFB. Weak field of teams, thou it should make for a fun finish.

Well, there is a lot more talent coming out if high schools. Teams are actually better across the board. Offenses are more complicated.

Yea I'd say it's much more that the mid level teams have gotten significantly better than the elite teams being significantly worse.

i'm a little hesitant about using f+, but this confirms a thought i've had since about late september or so (namely that there are no dominant football teams this year)

everyone looks shaky, there's no fsu or bama coming through that door

may i ask why?

At the end of the year, it is usually deadly accurate. The national champ typically has the highest F/+ score.

"end of the year" being the key there; like a lot of math-driven rankings, they usually end up being really on-point later in the year but are somewhat inaccurate early due to small sample size

i guess we probably have enough games played at this point for it to be useful though

Okay, I do agree with that.

The measure is very useful now, for certain, but lets say ~4 weeks ago, it would be almost meaningless.
