Homecoming Parade - what a joke

I know that the homecoming parade has never been a particularly "good" parade as far as we're accustomed to in Louisiana. But this year's was worse than I can recall.
There was 1 Greek float, 3 political floats. A few weeks ago LSU was running around from tailgate to tailgate removing political banners. A few members of our tailgate work for one of the local campaigns and were told to remove the banners or "the next step would be to contact the police and get them involved for not complying with tailgating rules" the gustapo went on to inform us that by hanging a banner at a tailgate it could imply that LSU endorses a candidate. Then they cut the zip ties themselves and removed our banner. Oh but have them give money to be in the parade and by all means let's have Edwin walking around kissing babies and Giant fat heads of Garret Graves on sticks.
Meanwhile 1 f'n greek float. We used to have a float for every greek homecoming team. What the hell happened? Those floats livened up the parade. The greek float this year had members from greek organizations on it - no music, nobody having a good time. Terrible.
Then the dance troupe comes by. The "Perfectly Imperfect Dancing Divas". They ranged in age from about 7 to 12 maybe? No problem with kids dance groups at all. Then the kids started twerking to Rock tha Boat. Unedited version. I'm sorry but seeing a bunch of little girls bent over shaking their arse while the speakers blare "make that thang whistle" and their parents cheering them on and taking pictures just didn't seem right.
Then there was a "float" that was a truck with purple painted cardboard all over it and it said "Truck Beauxt" on it. And that was it. No club, nothing to do with LSU, nothing. That's gotta be some people just jumping in the parade, right? If that's the case then its hilarious.

Too busy planning how we were gonna stay the whole game. Sorry.

Only one Greek float? No way I don't believe that.

I agree. Wasn't there, but that sounds really boring...
and
It's just what the country is coming down to... It's inevitable sadly.
My girlfriend went to tour Southeastern. It happened to be their homecoming game. They had all kinds of greek floats and they were rocking. Playing music and everything. No twerking. The parade wasn't that good, but still... it sounds better than our homecoming parade.

part of homecoming was always pomping. Every sorority and frat used to put a float together

Honestly, if they didn't have a parade I wouldn't give a frick. But if LSU is going to put something on, advertise it, shut down traffic on gameday... then I expect them to do it right or not do it at all. It was embarrasing. If that's what they've got, cancel the parade.

Then go fricking cheer for SLU.
I'll take our College Gameday, ~200,000 people, bitter SEC rival, national title implications atmosphere over some BADASS homecoming parade in Hammond that you seem to care so much about.

They just picked a bad week for it. But, on the bright side, I caught some of that delicious parade gum, which is the best gum

LSU eliminated the Greek floats. For being too rowdy, I presume

settle down Francis. Nobody cares about parades, people just making comments.

Really sad they removed the Greek floats. LSU continues to shite on traditions.

All the sorority houses had the pomp displays up, it looked good. But the parade was lackluster. I think they scaled it back because this was such a huge game.
