I'd forgotten about this one. I checked and he has a pretty wide lead in the polls.

That's sad. What the hell is wrong with Minnesota? They elected The Body, and now two terms for this useless tv idiot.

It's funny. I TOTALLY forgot he was a senator.

Must not be doing anything of use.

Cool. If all it takes is to do nothing to get someone to like you, the government has you as a friend!

Why do you think that? Because he's not always making headlines and he's not a fixture on the cable news shows?

Pretty much. I don't watch the news so I don't hear of him doing anything smart nor stupid.

So he's just filling a seat. Which is good for him. He's making some bank for himself and his corporate sponsors.

Just like the rest of senate.

Maybe when you put too many white folks together without any real diversity and cultural clashes of any kind are rare, the populace loses touch with realty. There's no other explanation.

They absolutely love their guns though. Wisconsin and Maine are like that too. Fairly liberal, but very supportive of the 2nd ammendment.

Minnesota people like to pretend they're liberal elites (at least in the TC)

Also the guy running against him is an idiot

I don't know where you get the idea that if a Congressman or Senator isn't always on TV he's not doing his job. IMO, the most effective ones are the ones who you don't see on TV. The ones who you see on TV are the narcissists and the ones with Presidential ambitions. Furthermore, sometimes we're better off when they're doing nothing than doing something, lest you agree with all the legislation passed under the Bush 43 and Obama administrations because something is better than nothing.

This is kind of the box I assign to people like David Vitter, Lamar Alexander, and other establishment republicans. They do their job and stay out of the spotlight.....they seem to vote with their constituents wishes most, if not all of the time. They probably making a killing doing exactly what they do. I'm guessing Frankenstein falls into that category for his state.

Pretty much everything passed during those periods were and continue to be awful. Patriot Act, Obamacare, stimulus, bailouts for banks and car dealers.

You got a point there. I do like the guys who are quiet.

But the fact that he supported Obamacare pretty much does it for me. Anyone who supported that piece of shite needs to be gone.

And this is just an assumption, but I be he's Ok with the Patriot Act now that it's being used by Obama.

They're trying to justify these warrantless wiretaps by saying, "Oh, it's al-Qaida!" One guy is saying it's just al-Qaida--the Hayden guy, and then on the other hand, you hear from the FBI that they were inundated with referrals on all kinds of stuff with these calls, so much so that they couldn't get to their real work, and that none of the referrals led anywhere. I think it's a Roveian strategy: "We win on national security; we'll scare people, and then we'll just win."

Franken, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, says he got secret security briefings on the program and he says it prevented unspecified terrorist acts. “I have a high level of confidence that this is used to protect us and I know that it has been successful in preventing terrorism,” Franken said.

Its a net win for society. Yes, he's a Senator, but this means he isn't out there trying to be an entertainer. I say we are coming out ahead on the deal.

Honestly, he's less of a clown than Harry Reid. He's actually not been that bad of a Senator by comparison to many of his fellow democrats.

His opponent is a weak one-tune Charlie.

Franken has done fine for Minnesota. Well researched on issues, and stays out of the headlines.

My theory is that life is pretty good in Minnesota,
and the winters are long. So we tolerate entertainers for politicians including Al, Jesse, and Michelle Bachman.
