I bought a house in a older neighborhood that I have gutted.

At some point in the past, it was apparently in style to put astroturf on concrete slab porches. All of the carpet is gone, but the adhesive is still very much there. I have scraped it about as well as I can, but a lot still remains. I bought a few products from Lowe's that haven't seemed to help much. I want to get it smooth so I can stain/paint.

Anyone have experience?

You can't sand it off?

Maybe some kind of heavy duty grinder? My hand sander is no match.

You're asking the wrong question.

You want to be asking, How do I remove industrial grade adhesive from a porch floor?

I have been scraping with a chewing gum knife, but its a lot of work for a little gain.

Another question:

Is the surface flat and consistent already or would it need smoothing?

You might be better off using a commercial smoother if you're gonna have to do that any way as some on here are saying.

If you can get away with just adhesive remover that's a lot easier obviously.

Muriatic acid. Pour it straight on the porch surface and you'll be good to go.

Have you thought about covering it up with the textured paint designed for patios? They have colors and shades to make it look like concrete still.

deck over is one of the brands

I drew a line,
I drew a line for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
And it was all yellow.
