Jennings is Effective and Improving

For LSU to win, it must have an effective rushing offense.

For LSU to have an effective rushing offense, it must have an effective passing offense.

For LSU, an effective passing offense means that it keeps extra players out of the box. Without extra players in the box, defenses have difficulty stopping LSU's run game.

LSU's first two plays of the Ole Miss game were runs for two yards each resulting in 3rd down and 6. LSU's next two plays were passes. The first pass was a 32 yard pass completion to convert the third down. The second pass was an 11 yard completion to Dural, also a first down.

LSUs first play of the second half was a 22 yard completion to Quinn. Jennings made the right read and threw the ball early.

Completions like these examples are enough to keep the defense from putting extra defenders in the box.

Moreover, Jennings is improving to the point where Cameron feels comfortable throwing passes over the middle. Jennings' fifth pass attempt was a perfectly thrown 40 yard completion down the middle of the field to Fournette. Jennings also completed a long pass near the hash mark to Quinn in the fourth quarter.

Posters who say that LSU can't win with Jennings as the starter are cearly wrong. LSU has only lost one game with Jennings as the starter.

Posters who say that Jennings is not an effective QB are wrong. Jennings does not have to complete 100% of his passes to be effective; he merely needs to complete enough passes to keep the defense from stacking the box.

LSU routed Kentucky with only 7 completions. LSU routed Ole Miss everywhere but on the scoreboard with just 8 completions.

Finally, posters who say that Jennings is not an efficient QB have to recognize that Jennings' passer rating for 2014 is still higher than Mett's passer rating for 2012.

Jennings is not perfect, far from it. Jennings is not prolific, not even close. However, Jennings is effective, and Jennings is improving.
