Terrence Magee? Why do people keep referring to him as #18? It's not like he's an unknown player

It is the hip and edgy thing to refer to the players by number these days. I had a conversation with a dude the other day and he kept saying that #52 is coming on strong and needs to play more instead of #31 and that #33 has really become a beast.
