Whats up with bacon wrapped filet mignon?

Why would you ruin a piece of filet by wrapping it with $4/lb pork? It completely takes away from the taste of the beef. Im more of a stove top griller, is it better on the pit?

If you cook the bacon you've overcooked the steak. It's retarded.

I like to cook the bacon 60-75% on the stove by itself then wrap it. When I put it on the grill I drizzle the filet with the bacon fat.

bacon has fat in it, a filet has little fat

therefore when you cook a bacon wrapped filet, the filet cooks somewhat in the bacon fat

cooking with bacon on the stove, you can use little or no oil

What pilot said. It's an attempt to infuse flavor into a tender cut that lacks flavor. There are several cuts of beef that I'd choose over a filet.

Most of my customers request filet mignon cut and not wrapped in bacon. I personally don't buy filet. If I want filet, I buy a t-bone, and get New York strip to go with my filet.
