Any early reactions to Bayonetta 2? I'm in the market for a new WiiU game and I want one of these just not sure which one.

Never played the first and looks too weird to me, but all the reviews say the gameplay is one of a kind.

On that note, better or worse than Hyrule Warriors?

Thoughts?

Bayonetta is one of my favorite underrated games of the last generation. I loved it.

Bayonetta 2 is one of the reasons I'll probably buy a WiiU.

Good to hear. I've watched some things on it, I'm a big fan of the old DMC's, so I think this is right up my alley, but no telling.

I'm with you. I keep hearing good things but when I watch videos I just don't think it's for me. It has a good chance to be the best game of the year that didn't sell.

Gamespot gave Bayo 2 the first 10/10 in 4 years and is only the 8th 10/10 ever given by gamespot.

Getting a 10/10 seems to be trivial these days, but gamespot has kept that score pretty rare, so I'd say it is still significant when they give out a 10.

Hyrule Warriors is really more meant to appeal to the long time fans. But it was surprisingly well received even outside the fan base. Bayonetta 2 is really good but I find the controls to be inferior to the Ninja Gaiden series. Way inferior.

I'm a long time fan, but I went ahead and pulled the trigger on Bayonetta today. I'l probably get HW in the post Christmas slump when it might be $40.

Bayonetta probably needs the sales more and I wanted a more complex brawler.

That game isn't dropping in price for at least a year or until the DLC comes out. Your best chance is good ole Black Friday.

I'll start by saying this:

The game is weird as heck and kind of creepy. I've never liked anime, (and all I ever hear after South Park is "Less Fighting Love!"). So the characters, ridiculous situations, the dialog, and the obvious sexuality are just not my cup of tea. I mean, some of the trappings allow the game to go in ridiculous directions, so that's good. And I think it all makes sense in it's own weird way.

It's weird.

Very weird.

However, it might also be the best action game I've ever played. Even more so than DMC and Ninja Gaiden, I feel like an artist of death whenever engaged in a fight, which is 90% of the game. The controls, the smooth framerate (save for some slight drops every now and again), it all just works seamlessly. Whipping combos together is easy and complicated all at the same time. The dodge mechanic is well done, and adds that layer of difficulty (if you don't hit it, some sections will kill you in a few seconds). I feel like how I fight, and how someone else fights are completely different. It's just insanely interesting to chain everything together.

It really is stunning how it all blends together.

Online is tough as balls though. Both playing against people and the fights themselves. Hard.

So, if you can get past all the campy/creepy stuff, it's kind of a great game. The reviews are right, but I'm not lying, it's on the edge of weirdness and what I can tolerate.
