Question about espn waivers

I picked up someone yesterday about 4, I dropped them this morning and someone else picked them up this evening. It seems every other player that gets dropped goes to the waiver process, anyone else seen this happen and can explain why some do and some don't?

He needs to be in your lineup for 24 hours for the player to be held up in waivers. If you don't want your opponent to pick up the player for Sunday games, I think you drop them on... Friday (Saturday?) at 2:00PM or something like that.
