Question is, why are police expected to respond to a threat of suicide? It's like giving whiskey to an alcoholic.
A guy wants to kill himself but doesn't have the nerve may not hesitate to shoot a cop knowing they will return fire.

So, the guy gets to end his life and the police get to use their guns. Do y'all call that a "win-win"?
