News conference ongoing now.
Blasio just said "if you have a fever, go to the Hospital. Do not go to the Doctor's office. Do not go to a clinic. Go directly to the Emergency Room."
I'll bet insurance companies and EDs alike are thrilled to death by that brilliance.
Holy Toledo!

ETA: Well in fairness to de Blasio, CNBC was breaking in and out of the news conference. Rejoined the news conference at the point Blasio said "if you have a fever, go to the Hospital. Do not go to the Doctor's office. Do not go to a clinic. Go directly to the Emergency Room." . Won't help Hospital EDs because of the way it was broadcast, but de Blasio's complete remarks were actually more appropriate. First time I've gotten to see the whole thing. Video of News Conference. Enjoy the sign language guy.

I thought we weren't supposed to panic.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer city

I would think that if everybody did this, and some of those actually have Ebola, this would just increase the likelihood of spreading due to the overcrowding at the ER and unnecessary contact.

Wouldn't stay in and if fever persist or worsens then go see a doctor be better?
I'm no Dr McCoy though.

Did he also employ this guy?

"You can get Ebola with only substantial intimate contact", d Blasio.

It's incredible that we elect people like this to be our leaders.

Oh, and he had the sign language guy gyrating beside him (looked like a poor fellow flailing in a swarm of hornets). Presumably in case a deaf person was watching TV with cc turned off.

Too bad he didn't have someone there to translate into Swahili.
