It is meant to taunt the opponent
This is the absolute WORST argument that I have ever heard about this. I am sure the opponent cowers with fear each and every time this chant rears its ugly head.
I can see the post game press conference now:
Reporter: So Billy Bob Rebel, tough loss for you guys here tonight in Tiger Stadium. What was the turning point of the game?
Billy Bob Rebel: Well….things were going good for us tonight. I thought we had them. Then, out of nowhere, their students chanted "Suck that tiger dick" (Billy Bob is barely able to contain his tears now). And if that wasn't bad enough, they added "BITCH" to the end of it. Those taunts intimidated us beyond belief and we just lost it from there….

I was a student the year after they banned Oh-wee-oh for the USC incident that happened the year before I got there. They would pass out stickers that said "oh-wee-oh Tigers", encouraging us to chant that instead of "you suck"
That was never gonna happen, saying tigers feels so dumb in the middle of that cheer. However, "talkin out the side of your neck" sounded great and was still a good taunt. The problem is, by the time I was a senior none of the younger students had any idea what the actual words are, so they made up their own. Heck, I didn't know what we were supposed to say the first few times I heard it.
If you don't want them to say STTDB then you gotta teach them what the actual words are. Because I PROMISE you that most of these students have no clue what the real words are supposed to be

I have every intention of not chanting it. But this will be the drunkest I will be at a game all year, so subconsciously I am absolutely planning on chanting it.

Its not just the student section, about 90% of the stadium will be saying it so join along my friend lol
Are you stupid ??????? That's the only explanation I can think of. You must be stone-cold stupid.
90% of the STADIUM ??????????
Try about 40% of the Student Section only, if that. And those that do it (if they even do it,) only do it about 4 or 5 times, which is embarrassing enough.
Shane from Breaux Bridge and Holly from Destrehan and Chad from Bunkie and Molly and Kelly from Amite all titter to each other and giggle and high five because they got away with saying 'DICK' in the stadium. What great model, character scholars and fine exemplary representatives of Louisiana State Universy you are.
All future Enterprise Leasing or Wendy's Manager Trainees.

The students can put STTDB into any song the band plays and they have figured that out. It is meant to taunt the opponent. I understand that it is juvenile, but they are a bunch of college kids. All that crap they do on second and third down is pretty juvenile too.
BTW, you do know the arm gesture the entire stadium does (including Mike the Tiger and the cheer leaders) when neck plays actually encourages them to say STTDB, right? That is what they think it means.
So, LSU students are too STUPID to say the words of the song "taken out the side of your neck" ??
They can't read and memorize that ?????????
Gotcha...

Why do people even bother with this?
If the band plays neck, the student section is GOING to chant STTDB. No matter what.
If the band does not play neck, then it depends. If LSU is just getting absolutely crushed by Ole Miss, they probably won't chant it. If LSU is beating Ole Miss, the student section will chant it anyway, even if they have to force it over some other song the band plays like lights or drop it like it's hot.

STTDB, besides being crude, is just so arcane to this particular time; making it, therefore, transitory and ephemeral. It's kind of like Hotty Toddy: probably all the rage way back when but who the hell cares now?
On the other hand, for example, GEAUX TO HELL OLE MISS is timeless - it has Biblical roots, for heaven's sake.
I guess if you wanted to update an interjection to a nearly standard riposte of current times that may have currency in the future, one could say:
frick YOU, OLE PISS, frick YOU (same syllabic count as STTDB)
- which would be an immeasurable improvement over the pathetic, bestiality-referencing, soul-less, and wit-less STTDB.
Alas, higher education is apparently failing our youth.
