So is it safe to say the Poche is our Ace? And our Friday night starter?

No easy answer to the question of "Who is our ace?" like last year. Even if Poche isn't our Friday starter, he should still be a solid weekend guy.

I wouldn't say that. Good chance he starts the season on Friday but he may not end it there. To me, he's a good pitcher but doesn't exactly have the stuff you look for in a Friday night guy.

I'm thinking Lange

most likely weekend starter.

From the scrimmages, here are the era for the most used pitchers, to date.

Poche 8.08
Lange 0.91
Norman 3.00
Godfrey 0.91
Bugg 1.00
Newman 6,52
Cartwright 1.28
Domangue 3.46
Faucheux 5.00
Devall 0.00
Strall 4.50
Stallings 3.60
Mitchell 9.00

The others have pitched so few innings, I didn't include them.

I haven't checked the stats, but Fraley seems to be having a rough fall again.

Poche will probably start the year as the Friday guy. Once one of the young flame throwers emerges, he will more than likely be used on Saturdays.

SCUBA, what kind of velocity did Poche and Newman have?

Thanks for all the work you put into the scrimmage updates. Baseball junkies like me really appreciate it!

Poche was topping out at 88-90, Newman at 87-89.

He has hitting allergies in the Fall.

He'll be fine come February.

It's that mute sounding bat.

I think he's out of practice touching his belt on his back before each pitch. It's got his mojo messed up....

@BarrecaAdvocate: Just got finished talking with Mainieri. As @Chascin_TDR reported Thurs, frosh P/INF Austin Bain is out for the fall with shoulder soreness.

@BarrecaAdvocate: Mainieri mentioned redshirt freshman LHP Christian Pelaez is getting an MRI on his shoulder yesterday. Still haven't gotten results. #LSU

quote:

@BarrecaAdvocate: Pelaez pitched once this fall and complained of shoulder pain after. Mainieri: "These pitchers, they're fragile, man." #LSU

@BarrecaAdvocate: Conner Hale also getting first work at 1B today. Bryce Jordan getting his first work at 3B. Mainieri said today was an "experimental" day.

@BarrecaAdvocate: Mainieri:"You don't want to talk in superlatives until kids have proven themselves, but it's hard not to b excited about Lange and Godfrey."

quote:

@BarrecaAdvocate: Asked Mainieri about the new baseballs. Said the pitchers like them because they get less blisters from the lower seams.

quote:

@BarrecaAdvocate: Said the pitchers say the new baseball feels "smaller and lighter in their hands, so they feel more confident with the velocity."
