What is Cassidy's income, net worth, home value, etc.?
I don't doubt the assertion he's "rich". Just wondering what the facts are that you have access to.
Only thing I've seen referenced is a $280K home in BR.
What else do you have?

They are? I think you're letting Cassidy's formulaic political ads do your thinking for you.
I do my own thinking. Which is GOPs major problem not the Democrats. Many of us do our own thinking and do not blindly vote R. Democrats/Progressives will have you believe their success in elections are do to their beliefs winning.
I say they are ashamed. They are not happy to own a million dollar house in DC so it seems they are ashamed of their success. How did they get their money? Her husband sells real estate to political partners of his wife. She gets her money from Super PACs and the tax payers.

Also, how did Landrieu make millions of dollars "at the expense of taxpayers?"
She's married.
Her husband works.
Presumably he does quite well.
That would be my expectation.
By public accounts ML is worth ~$2.5M, all in.
I guess technically that would qualify as "millions", but not really.
Again, Mary's problem is not her own wealth.
Mary's problem is criticism of others for their wealth, in light of her own situation..

I don't think she's criticizing him for being rich. I think she's pointing it out since it was pointed out that she is also rich.
I don't think Cassidy is a bad guy. By all accounts, he seems to be a good person. I just think he's a lock step party vote who will have no real influence in what I believe will be hard times in the future. I wouldn't be unhappy of Cassidy won, but I don't think we'd be in as strong a position either.
Mary has more influence, whether people acknowledge it or not, but she's been the victim of some double edged swords, specifically regarding Obamacare, which did not get her vote until the administration committed to lifting the Gulf moratorium. I think Obamacare is a terrible policy, but I also know a lot of people whose livelihoods were saved by the deal.
Anyway, in regard to this thread, it's more of a "don't throw stones..." situation for me. If you're going to call people out for being rich, don't be surprised when they do the same. If you think that makes me a liberal, just peruse my post history on this board and you'll know better.

I don't think she's criticizing him for being rich.
You are under the impression Landrieu has not attacked successful people for being "rich"?
Is that not a major component of her populist political schtick?
quote:No kidding.
Anyway, in regard to this thread, it's more of a "don't throw stones...
Landrieu has made a carrier of "throwing stones" at "the 1%", has she not?
Anyway, back to the Cassidy question.
What's his net worth?

Well, he never mentioned it. He only had his proxy do so, while failing to mention that he is also rich.

Most web searches, and data from his financial disclosure forms indicate a average net worth of $1.6 million, a lot of that is home equity. Without the possibility a federal pension in his future it is unlikely he would ever be able to retire, that does not really fit the description of being "rich".

WTF is Landrieu?
Based on congressional financial disclosure forms and calculations made available by OpenSecrets.org, Landrieu's net worth as of 2012 was estimated between $894,018
Less than a millionaire?

Looks like Cassidy is worth about as much as she is so again, fair is fair. Was that supposed to be a big gotcha moment for you?
I don't see anything where she attacks the "wealthiest 1%," but since, according to this board, she doesn't belong in that group anyway, she's welcome to it. People play to their base. Is Cassidy not doing that? Actually it's all he seems to be doing.
Her career began long before anyone started talking about the big bad 1%, so no. Try not to believe everything you see on TV.

If that is accurate (hopefully it isn't) and Landrieu's top net worth along with her husband is a max of $2.7M, then she absolutely needs to go. No way a couple that fiscally incompetent need to represent a state.
Maybe she's just honest. The only politicians who get rich while they're in office are the crooks.

I'm going to post this only once.
I'm hearing rumors from friends of the Landrieu campaign that some of their internal polling data pegs Cassidy at within a hair of winning in the general election. They are in panic mode because this was worse than expected.
Those of you predicting that Cassidy trounces her in the runoff my be correct.

From the scuttlebut I'm hearing, Landrieu needs to pull a Harry Reid and pour resources into Maness's campaign just to get to a runoff. There is a chance Cassidy puts her away even in the 3-way.

Landrieu & 3-way don't belong in the same sentence.

That is in line with what I'm hearing from the Landrieu people....which is good news for Cassidy.
Democrats will not be holding their fire until the runoff.
