Why doesn't Popovich make more money?

He's a GM and coach, and he is clearly the best at what he does. He makes $6 million a year, which seems like a ton, but considering what NBA players are making these days, it's really not that much.

If I'm an NBA owner with too much money, I offer him $12 million a year just to see what he says. It's probably too late in his career to start over, but this definitely should have been done at some point.

This is true. And $6 million in San Antonio might as well be a billion.

Agreed. He seems like the kind of guy who would rather stay put and stay comfortable and win a couple more rather than start all over in a big market for more money

he is probably akin to a god in south texas. There isn't a ton of pressure to win there and yet he still puts up 50 w's every year. I think he's good.

he's probably smart and so financially stable that the money is sufficient for him to live the rest of his life exactly how he wants that it outweighs getting paid more elsewhere

Pretty much. San Antonio isn't Miami or LA as far as bright lights to play in but all of those guys are worshipped in that city. Playing there or working there for that franchise would be a blast

RC Buford is the GM. He has Belichik like say in the players but RC is the guy who built the team.

As much as I don't like the Spurs, that guy is the most underrated figure in all of professional sports.

Considering that Popovich was the GM who hired Popovich, and he clearly makes all of the big personel decisions, I think I could be the GM of the Spurs.
