That's amazing. I'm glad this thread had a happy story in it with all the negativity that was in the beginning.

Not a fricking chance in hell
the undue burden of your dad having to support another kid might just be too much

I have a friend whose mom has 9 adopted special needs kids from China.
I don't know how she does it, but she loves those kids so much. It's amazing.
Her husband is a doctor, so they can afford it.

I think the wealthy are in a great position to do this especially if one spouse can stay home without work responsibilities and the working spouse can be heavily involved in rearing the children when home.
Families that raise these kind of children have to totally re arrange their lives and become completely selfless (in a world that tells married people constantly to make themselves happy and leave the relationship if you aren't being personally fulfilled).
The parents need to be willing to give up literally 90% of the life they wanted or expected and sacrifice for the children—not just for 18 years but forever. that is BIG.
Having lots of money and one parent that can stay home is a HUGE advantage. its really tougher if those conditions aren't' there

My daughter is special needs. Cerebral palsy and seizures.
No, you should not adopt any kid. Def not special needs.

Do you mean adopted special needs kids? Our son was profoundly mentally and physically handicapped and he never received a SS check.
We don't get a SS check either. We make too much money, so I've been told.
