So I have had this car for a month and I had the intake manifold replaced, and after I got it back from the mechanic (who is a friend) the engine was knocking and know I can't drive it. What should I do?

What's "blown" about it? It could be something as simple as a bent pushrod or him screwing with the rockers when he replaced the manifold.

FIFY

Lawyer up.

Especially if it's a 1980 Chevrolet Citation or of equal value.

you have two options....

1. short block

2. junkyard

the option you chose shoud be determined by the current value of the car...
