Coach clearly isn't heads up certified.

That's two kids who haven't learned proper technique.. The coaches should never have used that drill when it's blantenly obvious they don't have a full grasp of proper technique.

Agree.

That kid on the ground is lucky to be alive.

Well, I'm assuming he's alive.

I heard a guy on the radio saying we should start kids off playing football without helmets. Seeing shite like that makes it seem like not such a bad idea.

You can't cry like a bitch when you are dead so I think it is safe to assume he is alive.

Kids don't need to play football until at least middle school.

From early as I can remember my youth football coach taught us to put "our head across the bow" and wrap up. It was always to let the shoulder do the dirty work and not your head.
Not every hit was a big hit, but you were almost sure to make the tackle.

Why not? Have you ever watched little kids in grade 6 and below play? They aren't doing any permanent damage, trust me!

Too young to really learn proper form, growth plates aren't fused, peewee coaches are very unqualified, and it doesn't translate to future skills the way other sports do.

I'm going on conversations I've had with multiple people who played college football and are now medical doctors.

Peewee kids are not too young to learn proper form. Kids that age can be outstanding athletes. Gymnastics, figure skating, skateboarding, snowboarding, baseball, golf all require coordination, balance and proprioceptive skills. Football is no different than teaching a kid any other set of skills. The benefit of team sports for children outweigh the negatives IMO. I think football is a great learning experience for youngins.

Growth platesbeing vulnerable is just a physiological fact that is fortunately offset by the lack of muscle mass and power in kids that age. Your doctor friends are "offbase" in my opinion.

If your kids peewee coaches suck, then volunteer to assist or coach and make the game safer. Im not trying to be an a-hole, I just disagree with your opinion.

I dont think it is necessarily targeting, or bad intent. But it is football. When two people running at full speed collide, shite happens. It sucks if youre on the receiving end. But thats the nature of the game.

It was a very dangerous hit and kids that age should not be in that drill unless they know that you do NOT put your head down. That only comes from, repetition of teaching proper technique that it appears these coaches did not do.

Very lucky that both of them weren't seriously injured.

Still this wasn't as bad as Friday Night Tykes in which those coaches did things that were borderline criminal.
